2014 pro motor solid or going to have issues

I bought my kid a 2013 pro with 240 miles on it and looking at a 2nd sled. I currently run a cr racing tnytro and will never get rid of it. Wondering if the polaris motors are still having issues(are they the same motors as the dragon motor) or have they got them running solid. I want to get another 2 stroke for myself and wondering if I should snow check a 2014 pro or go with a doo seeing that I have a pro already. Havent' riddent the xm, but the pro chassis sure hit home run. motor I'm a little nervous about(sounds like drive shaft is somewhat fixed up enough to avoid an embarrasement like the 2013.

I traded in my 2011 Pro 155" last fall with 1800+miles on that sled, no issues.
My 2011 Pro 163" has 1400+ miles, no issues.
My 2013 Pro 155' has 700+ miles, no issues.
I am sorry I can't be of any help. :face-icon-small-con
2015 will be Polaris's 60th anniversary. That is what I will be waiting for. :face-icon-small-coo

I don't understand how you can honestly expect someone to give you a logic answer to this question when the machines haven't been released yet?

let me rephrase question.

With the same motor going into the 14 as was in the 13, do you think that polaris has this motor(same motor that was in the 13) running better then the motor from 08-10. I sure hope this helps you out. Simple question.

The 11's were better than the Dragons and the 12's were better than the 2011's.

IMO the 14's will hold up just like the 13's have.

Went riding yesterday and saw a 12 getting towed back in with 600 miles on it, it still ran but it sounded ugly. My 12 lost an oil line fitting at about 400 miles and my 11 had a cracked intake skirt at about 2,000. So, better for 14? I doubt it.

Lol. The fixation on needing a fix.

A LOT of people on this forum have posted higher miles and good dependability on the 11, 12 and 13 Pro's. Some have torn them down, provided measurements and found nothing really too bad and posted that too.
These people usually don't repost like those that had a failure and then it is lost into the 'net void but you have to wonder why some fail.
If you read the "fix" threads you get more confused because of completely opposite theory's. That has to make you think.

How you analyse the info for yourself is up to you but do yourself a favour and ask people and shops outside the forums. If your still worried don't do it cause lifes too short.

But, IMO, you have nothing to worry about. Add extra oil and ride. If you change ANYTHING, even clutching add fuel with a controller cause they are lean there too.

I trust my Pro 800.

Not sure how anyone can get a good measure for the 2013 reliability based on sleds with only a few hundred miles on them. Seems to me we all went through this last year with the 12s. Failures didn't really start showing up until more miles were put on these sleds. IMO, I'm sure the slight changes made to the 13s helped but we will not know how much it helped until this time next year, once the 13s have had a chance to really get wrung out.

What empirical evidence is there that shows the 13s are, in fact, more reliable than the 12s? Is there any surveys/polls that compare failures on the 12s from Nov 2011-April 2012 to the 13s from Nov 2012-April 2013?

Can't compare failures on 12s for almost two seasons to 13s with not even a full season in yet.

Am I missing something here?

There are a TON of people with a lot of miles on 2013s.
are there going to be some failures? Sure. There are with any brand
All in all it seems the changes made are positive ones.
Have not seen or heard of ANY in my area
You're right time will tell but I'm encouraged by what I've heard so far!

True enough, but I have done some measurements and it will be a bit better then the 13, the 13 has a stronger cylinder then the 08-2012's.
only a bit better.

any truth to the rumor that the 15' will have a new engine?

Hopefully cause they said they will never put out a new motor with a new chassis. The pro chassis is top notch, no need to change. Would be dumb to put out new chassis with same 800.

As for 14 motor better than before? The 13 taken apart has better crank and pistons. The 14 had new pistons again so hopefully for the better again.

Yes, they are bringing back the XLT. Xtra Light Triple 855 direct injection. Just kidding!:face-icon-small-sho
One would think they are going to do something, with the E-Tech in their rear view mirror. I have a friend that was a die hard Cat man. Last year he went to Ski-doo. And another die hard Polaris man that did the same thing. They were both afraid of the Polaris motor. And they also liked what the E-Tech has to offer.:wine:

800 motor

It looks like Polaris has a new crankcase number for 14, not sure what they did?

My guess is same lightweight motor and new chassis for 2015... For what it's worth I know some people who know some people that were seriously surprised and disappointed the new chassis wasn't released for 14:gossip:... Suppose to be a game changer:face-icon-small-win
