2014 Pro. Lower QD Pulley fastener "loose"

Sled has about 800 miles on it. I was going over the fasteners today in prep for a trip to CO, and noticed the lower QD pulley bolt was quite loose. I torqued it to spec, and was surprised at how much it turned. It was far more than finger tight, but it still concerns me. There isn't any play with the pulley, is this common? Should I replace with an ARP bolt? ARP and loctite? Top bolt was at the correct spec. Thanks.

I would definitely replace it and loctite it.

And make sure the splines on the pulley and shaft didnt wear from being loose

Clean the threads inside the Driveshaft... and the bolt...Clean the oil residue from the bolt threads and the threads in the jackshaft and driveshaft with brake cleaner... and let it dry well.... THEN use the blue Loctite.

Lock the brake lever to hold the shafts after you install the belts and snug down the bolts part way

Torque the bolts to 45-47 ft-lbs.

I like the ARP bolts much better than stock... easy to order... and great to have on your trip... since you know you are getting the best quality fastener that is not stretched.

Your bolt could be strecthed or otherwise damaged and waiting to fail.

Since you indicate in your post that is no play in the pulley.. It may just be a bad coincidence.

Just to add to the previous good advice, check to see that the washer was installed correctly. The washer is coned, the crown of washer should go towards the head of the bolt. Mine was installed backwards from factory allowing the QD gear to walk a little on the shaft consequently breaking the bolt at 600km's.

You probably can't judge the fit of the spline with the belt on.
