2014 ktm xc-w 450 or 500?which bike

I am looking at a new bike for my mh. should I buy the xc-w 450 or the 500 ktm? what are your opinions
I have been running mine on a 2010 carb 450,it's been a great bike, just going to update

What track are you running is the major question?

I recommend the 450 if you are running a ST and under 200lbs as a rider. If you are over 200lbs. I recommend a LT and the 500.

I am 240lbs and ride a 570 Husaberg w/ a LT. My buddy is 180 and rides a 505 KTM W/ a ST. We climb the same snow and the same grades at the same speed. Rider weight makes a huge difference.

I am running the st kit. I am 185lbs, 250 after I load my pack, hahaha.
my old 450 worked great, but with the new fuel injection I am hoping for more .
and 200.00 dollar diff from the 450 to the 500, I have to consider both

Not sure if you have another dedicated summer bike, but when I buy a bike I have to think about it's summer duties. Just something to consider.

I've rode a 450 XC-w and a 525 exc back to back and both are beastly bikes. The 450 had a much more nimble feel to me. The 500 felt heavy on the front. They both are a couple years old. My recommendation would be a 450 if your going to be putting the tires back on in the spring just for the fact it's easier to ride for me in the dirt. But if it's a dedicated snow bike, there's no replacement for displacement :face-icon-small-hap

thanks for the input, yes it will also be my summer bike. And i love the 450 i just sold, so i am leaning towards 450. But that 500 is dam tempting for the snow. How is the fuelinjection working for the ktm's in the snow? I have heard good things mostly

Displacement!

For the $200 difference, I would go for the 500 for the increased power, however, I probably won't be taking the MH kit off as my summer riding is done on a Harley. It seems to me that the KTM 500 XCW is the ideal bike for a snowbike kit, but everyone has their own preferences. Either are great bikes!
