2014 jackshaft install help

Hi guys,
I've been trying to put my sled back together but came upon problems with my jackshaft. I push it as far as I can in the top chaincase bearing, making sure the taper sleeve stays in, but the plate that links the engine to the other side of the jackshaft aren't lined up. I have about a 1/8'' space between the plate and the engine. See the pictures.

Maybe I should just get rid of the taper thing and get a 2015 jackshaft? The taper locking bearing is just a pain in the butt.

Thanks for the help!

Bearing on the clutch side all the way in? You have to heat up the plate a little and it will slide right in, and yes for 100 and some bucks you can upgrade shafts.. Money well spent

Don't use a torch to heat up the chain case, heat gun only. Screwed if the case catches fire.

CO 2.0 was selling a 2015 jackshaft about a month ago new for a pretty good price.. under 100 I believe. Id contact him and see if he still has it!

I am selling a new 14 shaft, $40. Still better than putting a used 14 shaft back in! But the 15 shaft works great. Only around $100 I think for everything you need. Seems like it's not all the way seated in the bearing like what was said. Even with a heat gun you can get that inner seal smoking, so be careful.

What plate should I be heating up?

I'm thinking the collar that goes behind the taper is not seated on the taper, that would be about the thickness I'm missing. I don't see how I can keep this collar in place while banging on the shaft the push it in... I'll mess with it more tomorrow and if nothing works I will just get the 15 shaft assembly.

I've changed both jackshaft bearing with FAG bearings and a new taper. The fit of the taper on the shaft is quite tight so I can't just push the shaft in, I have to knock it in.

Thanks for the help!

The plate on the clutch side, sometimes people don't get he bearing all the way in. I just get the plate hot and bearing slides in. On the chaincase side I get it hot as well. I run a belt drive so my seal is gone.. But as stated above be careful to not catch seal on fire. Also wiring that runs on the backside of chain case will melt. So pull that out of the way or slip some heat tape in there. I had to get the chaincase damn hot to seat that bearing

Each bearing has a retaining clip. How could they not be seated properly? I tried again today with no more luck. New 15 shaft it will be!

I don't know then maybe your chassis is tweaked? Or the torque plate is tweaked a bit. I would check clutch alignment when you get it all bolted back together. If they are off it will cause you nothing but problems...
