Guys:

I am considering getting one of these for my kid. Gonna ride it around the midwest as well as in the mountains a few times each winter.

Question: How do you think the track will hold up on trails? Are these tracks pretty stiff or do the lugs fold over fairly easily?

I know on my Cat, the track lugs on my mountain sled are really pretty stiff, and hold up well, what do you guys think?

They are a medium durometer track. Designed for multiple uses to fit the middle of the road market.

Keep your scratchers down on packed trails and you'll be fine.

Get some ski scratchers if you can. Those are awesome.

Get the scratchers that can go in reverse.

You know what would be awesome? If there was a forum just for Edge sleds.

I mean considering all the Edge's still out there, having a place to talk about Edge stuff here on SW would be great.

If you're on lots of trails and you're kid is going medium to slow speeds. I would look at a standard rmk. They have a front cooler. Just my 2 cents.

The track holds up fine as long as you're not doing laps around a lake with it to the bar... just keep the scratchers down and it'll be fine. I'd probably lean toward a chaincase sled instead of the belt drive sled for more of the trail riding/ditch banging this sled will probably see. JMO

And if you're shopping now, I have this for sale :face-icon-small-coo:

Hardcoresledder has one of the best edge sections if you want lots of good info.

I don't think the PRO is the best choice for lots of trail riding. As mentioned, a standard RMK with more cooling and a chaincase would be a better bet. The PRO works great in Mtn conditions but it is a horrible trail sled in my experience.

I should have clarified. It most likely will not be a pro.

I think I have created a monster here with my 15 year old. me and my buddies have been going out west each year for the last 20+ years now.

Well, my son has finally been allowed to join us. His first trip was 3 years ago, and is frigging hooked!! He sleeps, dreams, lives mountain riding.

Yet, he does ride a bit in the midwest on trails, ditches with his buddies.

Last winter, I rented him a RMK 800 and he absolutely loved it, frankly so did I.

So, that is the sled I am looking at for him....
