2013 Pro Slow to idle down?

Yesterday was a deep day, I was WOT longer than I ever have been. Started the day at 120 miles & at 160 now. Towards the end of the day, I noticed when I stopped, it would idle at 3200-4200 for 5-10 seconds before dropped down to 1850. At one point, it did it for awhile, dropped down and I tried to reverse. It didn't work. I killed it, restarted and reverse worked, but kept with the fast idle.

Any ideas?

Take it to your dealer, this is an issue I see when the fueling is lean at 0% throttle there is not enough fuel in it to idle down after the engine is ran up on throttle. Could be a bad injector, bad fuel pump, leaking crank seal etc etc.

The root of many of these problems so far this month has been proper throttle cable tension. Check that FIRST. (It's right in front your handle-bars in the rubber sleeve).

Snow and ice can cause this too.

Had the same problem last weekend. It's ice build up between the throttle flipper and block. The smallest amount was causing it for me.

X2 on this, especially if it was a DEEP day...try flipping the flipper several times to dislodge the snow build up and see if that solves the problem.

A spray of window de-icer (like you spray on your car windows) works well, to keep ice from building up. It doesn't leave any reside of film to attract dirt either.
