2013 PRO HM Turbo - Vipec maiden voyage

All......

Took 2 sleds Shane put together for us to Valemont this weekend.......

All I can say is WOW..... Crisp n clean beyond all expectations..... I thought there would be some lag, or burbles or something to indicate that this wasn't a stock sled.

Incredible power is all I can say...... It comes on smooth, really picking up at 6300 rpm..... NO ISSUES to report.

If you are in the gnarlies, and need to walk it out, no problem..... Totally rideable, but crack it and look out.....

Let other people give it a poke, I would say these 2 sleds are gonna drum up additional business for HM..... People on the fence are now sold by how it runs.....

Sled - 2013 163 with camoplast extreme 2.5
HM turbo kit with Vipec - as well as large injectors for later
HM pipe/can
Hm set up limiter strap assembly, front n rear
Heads milled
Machined clutches
8 tooth extroverts on riveted/clamped shaft - no issues

running shell 91 - no det what so ever

Thanks to Shane and Levi, these 2 sleds ROCK, (although, this rider, being outa the game and back in after nearly 17 years.....kinda a night n day learning curve, leaves a lot to be desired - with many a trip to go that should be cured:face-icon-small-hap)

No belt drive issues, ride it easy up the trail and then lace on it in the alpine. My arms are stretched.....

The Vipec fuel management is incredible, crisp, clean.....From bottom to top.....

I would highly recommend this set up, from HM turbos to any of my friends, and to all of you that are thinking of getting a turbo. Give shane a call....

Anybody that wants any more information....PM me

Once again..... Special thanks to Shane and Levi....You lived up to your word....

Brad

Awesome update. Riding my 2013 HM Vipec for first ride tomorrow. I will post comments bere as my thread was hi jacked.

LG

Glad to hear your ride report! I have around 150 miles on my vipec Hm turbo and wow its like re-learning how to ride a sled. I went with the 240 kit running on 100ll, its amazing how much power it makes. no lag, runs beautiful!

Where are you guys getting them installed??? What is the final price installed here??? Is there any tuning required on your end or is it truly pull rope and go??? Seems like a beautiful setup that is near idiot proof!!

Pull n go

My buddy and I got Shane n the boys down at hm in lolo to install. From what I understand hi line Polaris in wetaskiwin and hyper toys in Dawson install the kits as well.

Phone Shane or these fellas for pricing.

And yes, it's pull and go.

Full with fuel, fill with oil, pull rope. Wait until approx 120 degrees, ride up trail easy to warm up belt drive and let the fun begin. My buddy and I both have one, they both performed flawlessly. The only flaw I can speak of is the rider... Rustier than ever.

Hyper Toys in Dawson creek did mine, best dealer in these parts. true gas and go sled like above said. this is my first turbo sled and i havent had to adjust anything and its performed awesome. cleanest kit i have seen out of any turbo manufacture.

I might have to decide between an enclosed trailer or a HM Turbo!! Might wait til this summer but this seems like the way to go... I had 3 years of pushing buttons on a piped M1000, so this seems like the only way to go for a turbo!! Sled is already set up for the turbo as well!!

Wow !! This report will likely cost me some money ! Everything I've read on Pro Turbos, it sounds like the HM/Vi-pec is the way to go.

Sent from my iPad when I should be sledding.

Do they ever demo ride down @ the Pine Pass??? I'm only 2 1/2 hours south of there. I'd love to try one out if they're ever down there!!

Sorry, thought I better follow up on my promise to inform everyone of my first ride on my 2013 HM Vipec'd...

Wife got sick, so had to cancel...inexcusable I know, but next weekend a full report as previoiusly promised

I'm running 7.5 psi on my HM pro with nothing but 91 in the tank @ 3-6000'. The sled ran good before the vipec but now it honestly is not even the same machine. It runs crisp and smooth with a ton of power on tap. I was crazy skeptical about buying the vipec because of the price of it. Before I ran 8 pounds with 50/50 race fuel and now I'm pulling a full 2 grams more weight in the primary with less boost on cheaper gas. Long story short, I'm a very happy customer.

I do believe

the 2 sleds are about 6.2 or 6.5 lbs of boost, im glad we got the turbo pipe, 5lbs weight loss, and from what I understand, HM can pull some boost out and maintain the same power as the non piped model...

It runs crazy good.....I was sure there was going to be some issue - normally you have to deal with non anomoly, some flat spot, or burble or something.... But no such issues....

All on Shell 91 octane, no det the whole weekend at Chappel and Clemina.

Maiden voyage Longgold

You know the song Jesus Built My Hotrod, by Ministry?
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXCh9OhDiCI for those of you heathens that dont know music)

WELL, it appears he builds snowmobiles TOO! AND, he isnt dead, he lives in Lolo Montana...Dang-alang-a-DINGDONG.

The fit and finish of my build is one thing...exemplary.

Shane started with a 2013 black RMK stocker. He then built a water-to-air intercooled aerocharged beast, Machined heads, machined clutch, clutched as well as adjusted the shock for my fact arse...loaded a box with goodies such as belts and redline oil and sent it off to me. I was all in about $20k (I should mention that I don't know what I paid because I forget...but it was that ballpark), which considering a stocker with taxes in Canada will run you $16k or more (without the spare blets and cover and plugs and 2trk oil etc).

It arrives, and I go away fro a month...but finally I got to unleash last weekend.

Now to give you perspective;
1) I already own an intercooled HM 2011 with aerocharger controller - I63 CE and all the goodies
2) I in no way get any kickbacks or am in anyway affiliated with HM

The sled farking RIPS. I thought I simply had a ****e eating grin, but I later found out I had pooped my pants.

Throttle response;
linear power curve that feels like the stock response, only like riding it on pavement...it just snaps off the line, but then you have this seemingly endless topend. I could keep it pinned because it wants to throw you off the back. Its not becasue of bad track distribution from overpower, it just feels like you cant rein it in...

When you get into the thick of the trees, you've turned down and stopped facing downhill, but want to go up...the power is there in an instant. I did NOT notice lag...and im very acutely tuned to noticing lag.

You can be in and out of the throttle as much as you want, as often as you want...but then squeeze it when you need it, and it's all there...in spades.

His exhaust system had guys on the hill fooled. No gauges or any visible sign of turbo...and because the sled wasnt drowning everyone out with a mass of noise, people were very confused as to how I was going up lines the fairies that like to spend the whole day DOWNHILLING THEIR SLEDS (what's that all about) were making. No one was trying to go up that ****e. 3ft of fresh snow on a deep soft base - and I'm going up stuff no one was going up. Into the trees and I was riding like there was 6inchs of snow on a set-up base.

Also, he has built an airbox that draws from under the stock gauge through snowfilters...and the sled is completely vented as well. Underhood temperatures were far better than my stock 2011.

It just rips.

My 2011 is getting Vipec'd too now...I didnt have the patience with it previously...you'd pull up a hill, go to the bottom and pull again, and because it was hotter, it wouldnt run the same. Push some buttons, scratch your head, go into some tough terrain and get stuck...not on the 2013!

This thing just runs constant, perfect...the driven clutch could be held by your hand after 15 minutes of pulling and ripping in the trees. My stocker used to hiss if snow touched it under the same circumstances.

THe Vipec'd HM turbo has lived up to EVERYTHING I hoped it would. I had people PM'ing me warning me that I was going to be dissapointed. That there will always be lag and that was always going to make it less userfriendly in tight conditions. I completely disagree having ridden it.

Pick holes in what I am saying all you want peoples...but I am telling you, this is my take on this machine.

longgold, why the fug did you have to go and post that ride report ? I've been trying hard to convince myself that I don't want/need this system. Now you go and screw it all up ! AND to top it off, you've likely cost me a lot of money !

I think Hyper Toys charges a flat rate of $1k. I will bet once you leave the shop just dump in da fuel and oil till the seasons over. Idiot proof, I think that is my reason for buying.
