Hey Guys,

Does anyone have any MPG numbers on the Chev/GMC 2500 6.0L while pulling a enclosed or a camper? Just wondering thinking of buying one.

Thanks

I've got a '12 6.0 2500. I carry a 8.5' truck camper and tow a 16' trailer with either sleds or ATV's most of the time. My best tank average was 15.4, the worst was 8.5mpg. The 6.0 loves it's gas, but the 6 speed transmission is smooth and pulls great when using the tow/haul mode.

I had an 09 cc4wd and got 11-12 around town, 14 empty on the freeway, 9 pulling an open car trailer on freeway with a 3000lb sedan. never got to pull my enclosed snowmobile trailer because i disliked the truck so much much i sold it before winter came around

Lol I just don't understand why people buy a gas 2500 hd and ask for mpg... Just buy a real 2500 hd duramax and do a little work to them and get almost better mpg than a 1500 and the transmission doesn't have to downshift all the time...imo.. Cheers

I agree that the 6.0 should not be bought for mileage, but it still serves a purpose for guys like me over a diesel. Diesels make horrible daily commuters in the winter because you never get heat unless you warm it up for 30 minutes. They also cost more to maintain, fuel costs more, they do not like cold weather unless you leave them running, etc. The new diesels seem to be eating injectors by 100,000 miles, I can buy a new 6.0 crate motor for less than the injectors cost and have a brand new engine, so longevity isn't a reason for me.
