2013 KTM 450 SXF or KX450 for Short track TS

The kx450 is definitely a much better bike for snow man's they start really easy too. That's one bike you won't miss electric start on.

It should be noted that when I replied to this post, it was asking what's better a KLX450 or a KX450.. There was no KTM450SXf listed

The KX is the way to go the KLX has a wide ratio trans that is not great for the sno Bike!
yes the E button is nice ,,but the KX stars very easy, I carry a Cyclops helmet light in my pack and I use heated gloves, but I have seen A KX with a led light set up

I love both bikes. I've had both bikes. I would chose the SXF because of the motor and how it produces power and because it has traditional sprung forks (not air forks). The e-start is choice deluxe for sure but as mentioned before the KX is so easy to start I've done it with my hand before. Of all the jap bikes I still feel the KX is the best but after riding the new YZ a bit I'll reserve that statement until after this winter. In the dirt the KX stomps the SXF, so that is something to consider if you end up running the tires too. You will be happy with either bike.

Cyclops makes a light for the KX that plugs into the diagnostic port behind the number plate. You can also run the light on the SXF.

KTM wins

I also have had both bikes as snowbikes. ('11 Kawi and '14 KTM). The KTM was hands-down smoother power delivery and just felt better, better handling, etc. Nothing at all wrong the the Kawi and I'll agree with Rush the Kawi is better on the dirt, but for the snow I prefer the SXF.

You didn't say what year KX. I think 2013 was the first year for the air forks and some had trouble, some didn't but if the seal did blow on you, you are limping in with the forks collapsed. I hope the KTM will be good, cause I'm into mine full bore now!

Guess I'm lucky as I have one of each, 11 KX and a 13 SX ,,,,and on wheels the KX is faster down the field! But I'm old and the E button is now a necessity! So my son now gets the KX, now My 570 berg ,,that's a whole nother story!I have mike Lafertys personal play bike!

If you end up running the 13 bring your pressure up to 45-50psi in both legs and always bring your pump with you. Check it mid day since as it gets colder the pressure drops. Also make sure your fork tubes aren't covered with sharp ice because it helps to destroy the seals faster. Even with my springer bikes I try to wipe the tubes often. Not running the fork tube guards helps to keep the ice and snow from building up. I never run them anymore.
