2013 Down...

My friend lost the driveshaft at 30 miles on his new Pro. Had to get it towed out the next day and got a new shaft installed. Last weekend he was out riding and he said the engine started running like crap, not running on one cylinder but just no power and not sounding right. Took it to the dealer and they tore the engine down and this is what they found. Piston skirt broke off and went through the case. They are putting in a new engine for him but lets just say he isnt too happy with his new sled.

Wasn't some manuf having this issue a couple years ago......

Sincerly sorry for your friend. I'd be upset too.
 
Wow. Can't say i'm surprised, but this is the first I've heard of a 13 going down.
 
Glad I bought a 13'................................oh wait, that is a 13.:face-icon-small-sad
 
All one can hope is that it was a freak deal:brokenheart:. Very unfortunate and I don't wish that on even the arctic guys:yo: but hopefully it was an isolated incident.

Same piston, same clearance, same problem.

Cant say much about his sled but his dealer has been working their azz off to keep him happy. This happened last weekend and he dropped it off today after they reopened from New Years and they already had it tore down and parts ordered by the end of the day. Also, when he broke the driveshaft, they had him fixed up as soon as they had they parts and changed the track and gave him a free gallon of oil. Wish my dealer was like that.
 
Glad to hear there fixin it asap, also if drivshaft snapped under load, instant massive overev that limiter wont catch, could have hurt the piston ect ect but who knows. Just another reason why I hate cast pistons

Just from picking up from dealer and running it around the yard into shop mine was full of exhaust and oil down the front of motor and a puddle in the belly. I did some mods elsewhere so pulled the pipe and sealed the donut with high temp and let set up for a day. Rode it last friday night 40 some miles and no more mess. You would think there is a better way of sealing these things being we are running twice the oil needed for the first hundred miles! I didn't have 1 mile on it and had a big mess! Now every time I pull exhaust I will need to re-seal! There must be some way to reverse seal the exhaust to keep the oil in the pipe and not all over the interior!
 
Sorry for your misfortune but it is just another bandaid fix for poo .
How much for the crank since it is supposed to be better than the 11 s ?
