2013 belt drive

if you are having quickdrive problems you can't keep overlooking this.....you need to check your pulley runout. how would you expect a belt to last when it goes slack due to driveshaft/pulley runout?

I've posted and asked this multiple times with no response... People just wanna bitch and complain rather than trying to find a problem causing these belts to break.
Are all of these stories even true? On another site someone got busted claiming his broke and he was using a picture of someone elses sled:face-icon-small-dis

Yep seen that ?WHY

How do you check the runout?

jack the back of sled off ground, remove Right panel, start sled and spin it so you can have a look at the pulleys while spinning.....mainly the lower one, if it has a lot of visible wobble while spinning that is a problem. If you wanted to be more precise you could put a dial indicator on it

you guys that are not having problems, are you really running them at half throttle for 100 miles break in

As per dealer inductions....

You break in the whole sled (pistons, clutch belt and QuickDrive belt) the same way for the first tank of fuel.
Break in oil in tank.
Ethanol mode.
No no heavy throttle for more than 1 or two seconds.
Heavily variations on throttle.
No hard breaking or heavy stabbing of throttle from stopped position, especially on roads or trails.

Don't heat the belt. Let it cool periodically.

After that, you are still working on QuickDrive belt break in for the first 100 miles on chassis.
Same rules for heavy braking and throttle and colling the belt still apply.

You have to get that black factory wax off the QuickDrive beltto seat it with the cogs before it's considered broken in.

The break in chip goes away at about 8 our so hours on the hour meter.

I hit 8 hours today and my sled REALLY woke up today. Went from seeing 8200 and settling down to 8050, to hitting 8400 and settling to 8250 to 8300.

Finished out the day over 10 hours and 194 so far on asked...runs really well now. Really happy with it.

I didn't ride like a grammy at all during break in under 50 miles, but I certainly rode it like I planned to after it broke in. I just followed the simple guidelines my dealer gave me and I have had no problems.

My QD belt barely got warm when breaking it in. I checked it regularly and followed the rules pretty close. At 90 miles i started to let her have it. 110 miles now and everything still looks good. The QD belt builds heat pretty well once you get over half throttle and the snow gets deeper.

Here at West Yellowstone. Polaris West told me just to make sure the belt is warmed up before you give a fistful of throttle. Did just that and after 70 miles my belt drive sounded different and my guess it is broke in!

Burnt off newbelt drive system in under 100km on new pro!!! JUNK!!!! 160 kms they want under 30km for break in.... what kinda crap is that???? I will take a chaincase back anyday

After 350 clamped miles of deep powder riding, I`m a little consurned about how much snow is going thru the QD, at times the snow is hard packed, it would seem this would cause the belt to jump teeth, looking at some kind of screen in the foot well to stop all the snow build up??? any info would help.

290 miles of pure love hahah, im not here to Hate on this sled i love it, its a awesome sled, but i did strip my belt but it came from hitting a ditch at 50 mph that threw me into a indo into another ditch thats when i busted out the kiss of death/nac nac/half a front flip split open chin bum leg ran over by sled kind of move!! thought forsure more was broken but the only thing was the belt, i rode it out the rest of the 200 yds to the truck(ya it happend on the trail) just glad only one person saw it!! i had RKteK clamps on it but dropped it off last night to get all the updates and new belt installed, gona go ride in the AM I LOVE THIS SLED!!!! dont be so negative ppl go ride the hell out of that thing and enjoy!!!

There are a few metal drop pans out there by aftermarket companies that cover up the chaincase drain hole.
I had my hands on a VanAmburg pan yesterday....very nice.

you can also pick up some foot well vents. probably should do both. there are multiple options out there. i'm running mike taylor vents now. used a cobe on the 11 but that was just for the clutch side. not sure if they have a drive side one also?

A buddies 13 has been ridden hard from mile 1 in deep, heavy snow with a 3" track and no belt problems. His lower pulley appears to spin very true. I have seen lower pulleys with an obvious "wobble".
With no tensioner, if that pulley is not perfectly true the belt will constantly be in a tight/loose/tight/loose cycle. I would think that would be brutal on belts and obviously the end of the driveshaft.
Im not buying the "lack of break in" excuse. Its not like it gets stronger with use.
Also explains why the same sleds are having multiple failures regardless of break in.
Has anyone having problems bothered to check runout? Or are dealers checking this before throwing a belt on?

I noticed today how tight that belt is, My C3 is speced to have 1/2 to 3/4 inch deflection ,Hmm and Poo,s fix was a clamp only on the belt side of Axle.

RE: snow packed around Quick Drive

I've had the Al Quick Drive skid plate from Tedd Unlimited installed since day 1. This is the older version with a cut-out for the chain case drain. First ride ditch bangin' in 2' fresh there was snow packed all around the Quick Drive, looked just like the pictures posted on here. Installed Mike Taylor's foot well vents last night. Snow was deeeep and sticky today, I was stomping snow through the boards and against the vents all day. Checked several times throughout the day and only had a couple little bits of snow behind the Quick Drive. It's safe to say snow was getting packed in through the stock foot well plates, not through the chain case drain hole in the tub and skid plate.

Install a set of Mike Taylor's vents, problem solved.

Lost two belts one on mine and another buddy I think it needs a idler wheel or the brake moved to the drive shaft, got the poo clamp installed and the dealer says it only matter on that side cause that's where all the torque is coming thru, I had 200 miles with rktek clamps so now I can see how this last and go from there

i thought you just posted in another thread that you haven't had any issues with your 13?
