Wanted to start a new thread for the season........

Traveling out, gonna be there for Christmas this year.

How are the snow conditions?

Don't be a Grinch!! Spill it!!

Getting better by the week right now.
Was good enough to play "carefully" last weekend.
Should be +12-15" better this weekend.

Great news! So we should be looking good for a Jan 3-10 trip???? We are staying at the Village Resort in Island Park, are the trails good enough to start from there yet?

Dan

they are good enough now to go from there!!!!

Heading up to break in sleds tomorrow. Will report back where we go and conditions unless someone beats me to it. Planning on Blackrock and wherever else we can stack on miles within a day from there.

That 55" is not from black canyon loop but from black bear cutoff loop in Montana

Snow levels seem to be developing well. We hit Black Canyon loop saturday and I thought conditions were better than New Years Eve last year. Maybe a foot of new snow on a solid base. Couldn't tell if there was a weird wind blown layer underneath or what. Wasn't crusty, but might pose a problem on some steeper slopes this year. Still have to watch out for some random land mines, but we climbed several smaller hills and boondocked through the trees without incident. Trenched down a couple times in tights spots and never got to the top of the bushes or any dirt. I would say there's a solid 4-5' and climbing. Reports from Jefferson area are about equal.

We have 6 guys going in January staying at the Village Resort. We stayed there last year and it was pretty nice not anything special but very close to gas and trail so that is nice.

well it will be warmer this weekend than last for sure!! Be safe!!

There is a cabin at Mack's inn area 4 of us rented last year. It is small but has 2 bedrooms and 3 queen size beds and a kitchen very clean. Also has a hot tube and is close to everything. Very cheap they are asking $75 a night or $400 for 6 nights. Contact Teresa at 208-359-0687.

My riding group headed up towards Jefferson from the SE yesterday. Heard reports of new snow, but said they found nothing and conditions weren't as good as our ride in the Black Canyon area. Definitely need more snow everywhere, but it's rideable.

Rode out of warm river camp ground saturday just enough snow to ride up to the fish creek road. Then once you get to about 6500ft its game on cross country riding just steer around the bumps in the snow . :)
