2012 Updated Reverse Stopped Working

Reverse was working well for about 10 times or so. I used it while loading it up tonight, and then when arrived to put it in the enclosed trailer for a trip this weekend, sure enough, it went forward in reverse. I tried it a few times and it finally put itself into neutral and spun. Hitting the brake didn't stop the spinning of course...

I pulled it into the garage and took the side panel off. I started it, tried to shift into reverse and moved the secondary. It popped out of forward but didn't shift into reverse. In fact it went to neutral again and after I let the secondary go it started spinning in neutral. Figured that this might mean my deflection was too tight so I removed the spacer so it was super loose. It still shifted to neutral.

I got tired of playing with it and used a come-along to pull it backwards into the enclosed. It got the old doing that last year, and it wasn't any more pleasant this year. I'll call the dealer tomorrow, but I won't drop if off until Monday. There is no way in ****ing hell I'm paying the cat care deductible...

Has anyone with a 2012 that acted up after the update actually have it fixed?

If the update was done properly, you shouldnt be having problems. In the update they replace the entire shift fork assembly, at least it should of been. I wouldnt be paying for crap eithier, bring it back to your dealer, its their problem.

I've had one of those neutral grinding noises trying to turn it around on a trail here in Michigan. First time I ever had a missshift but next time I used it, it worked fine.

This reverse system seems to be flawed and will probably have to be deleted on my sled as I don't want to deal with the bulls**t.

Maybe Yamaha could show the boys in TRF how to put reverse in a fourstroke.

This will be attempt #2 to fix it. If it has to go in twice more after this I have no problems lemon law-ing this thing. I love the power, but between the reverse, the ****ed up smart valves, the egged out rails, the sticky throttle cable, and the rear idlers that lost the rubber I can say I'll have had enough.

MIne is doing the same thing. Put it in reverse it will only go forward. Loosedned the deflection all the way out and it still wont shift into reverse. IF you take the belt off, it will shift right into reverse. The dealer couldnt fix it for me because I have a OSP Jackshaft support, CAT said it was aftermarket. Could be CTC related?
