2012 switchback pro 800 tunnel protectors rattle

Evening everyone, I am new to this site and I just bought my 2012 switchback pro 800. I picked it up today and noticed that the tunnel protectors (factory) are loose and rattle very bad. My problem is the dealer is 3 hours away and I was hopeing I could fix myself with some help from this forum. Thanks for any help anyone can send my way..

No, it is factory tunnel protectors that are above the track. I can get my hand above the track and they are loose and make alot of noise at low rpms.. Rattle sound comes right up through the seat

Remove the seat and see if the rivets are loose, if they are drill out and install new ones with washers on the underside.
Its not a fun job but I bet the factory did not use small washers and the rivets pulled though the UMHW.

The heat exchanger strips are riveted nice and tight, it looks from the factory they slide a alumunium protector in on top of it. Thats the source of the rattle, i can move them very easily. I just cant come up with a way to tighten em up.

If the tunnel protectors are similar to the ones that will be installed on my SB Assault, they were installed by the previous owner and not by the factory. The fuel tank, seat and rear skid will have to be removed to access the fastening rivets. Then you can check them all for tightness. By the way, the protectors will limit the track lug size you can use. If you have no need for a studded track, remove them. 550iq
