Just bought a new 2012 Pro a couple months ago. Trying to get the suspension adjusted to my liking. That said, I am a newb to newer machines, last one I owned was a 2000 800 Polaris.
To start, I backed off the spring pressure on the two ski springs, but what I didn't check was to see if there was pressure on the springs when the front of the sled was lifted off the ground. While in Togwotee I tipped the machine up on it's side and discovered one of the spring retainers missing. Checked the other side and found that where I had the spring set it too was loose when there was no weight on the ski. $38 later I have a new retainer, replaced it and tightened the tension on the spring down about 1/4 inch past contact with no weight on the ski's. Did I do this right?
Next I notice that the two spacers on the ski are on the outside of the spindle, making the skis sit in their widest position. If I put the two spacers on the inside, will it potentially improve handling? Any negatives to narrowing the ski stance?
