2012 M-1100 Arctic Cat Melted Wire

Decided to dress up my tunnel during the summer slow time. Imagine removing the gas tank and finding the main wire from your battery to the main harness which runs under the plastic tank all melted and shorted out on the tunnel. Looks like the tank flattened the wire and the wire rubbed thru and grounded out. Anybody else see this. Quite a factory built special present. Boom comes to mind!!:help:

I haven't heard of the main wire wearing through, but it is very common for the taillight wire to wear through due to being pinched by the gas tank. The symptoms of that are a blown fuse that takes out the gauge's power as well.

The reverse wires also get pinched behind the servo motor on these sleds as well.

If your tank has not been removed since it was installed at the factory then it is a problem that originated during assembly. The wires are supposed to be routed through the channel in the fuel tank to the rear. I would take it back to your dealer for warrantee.

I can fix but just needed to get the message out there so nobody gets a machine destroyed or anybody gets hurt. First time tank has been off since Thief River built it.
