2012 KX450 Temp gauge.

Hey guys another question for all you experts. I am installing a thermo-bob t-stat on my bike and I am going to rig up a fitting to install my auto meter temp gauge I am just wondering what wires to pull the power from with out interfering with any of the bikes efi and other electronics. A little help would be great. Also I was wondering if a guy should unplug all connection couplers and put Di-electric grease in there for snow and water purpose. Has anyone done that before or is it necessary? Thanks for the help!

On the KX there is auxiliary power right behind the number plate. The power molex there is also where you would plug in a headlight or diagnostic equipment.

I have heard of people putting dielectric grease on the bikes before in the past and I've been told is a big no no for the winter. I can't remember the specifics as to why it's a bad idea, but people have had problems with it before.

NO NO NO on dialectric grease.

every connector on the bike is a sealed unit. it was designed to be run outside. yes the snowbiking is a little wetter then average, but again, they are waterproof connectors. packing all your connections full of dialectric grease can cause the pins to "float" inside the mating one and not make proper connection, or make an erratic connection. Trust me, you will make a lot more problems then you will solve doing this!
