2012 600 RMK Questions

Looking at pick one of these up today. It's will be my first long track sled if I decide to go with this one. I am mostly a trail rider but would like to explore the deep stuff once in a while.
Does this sled have the tipped rails?
Does it have the rear tunnel coolers?
I have heard they are good on oil, how are they on fuel?

Thanks in advanced.

Does this sled have the tipped rails? The 144 has¨

Does it have the rear tunnel coolers? Not in the traditional sense. The standard (non Pro) RMK has an additional bulkheadcooler

I have heard they are good on oil, how are they on fuel? About 2 litres pr 10km

Thanks in advanced.

If you do trail riding, the 144 is the way to go

I bought a 2012 RMK 600 144 part way through last season. On the trails it is deffinitly tippy. Off trail is really where the sled shines. It is very light and flickable. Power is very impressive for a 600. Deffinitly feels bigger. The majority of the riding I do is off trail and I have no regreats with the sled. If I were you I wouldnt buy one unless you plan on riding AT LEAST 50/50. Oil consumption is very good. In 200 miles the oil reservoir is right around half full.

you will love that sled on the trail and off,the tip rail acts like a 136 on the hard pack trails the push is very minimal and that 600 motor is very impressive,if you plan on doing more trail riding than off trail i would plan on putting the 1.352 cobra track on its better for the marginal snow than the 2" track

Thats far from the truth. Yes the tipped rails help on the trails but its a RMK. It has the narrow front end and mountain steering post. Your not going to get it to handle like a trail sled.

Yes DO NOT GET the PRO RMK 600 as this does not have the front cooler.

Its not as bad as people say you just have to watch your temps and when she warms up throw the scratchers down.

I have been running extended tracks for years and always keep an eye on my temps, so this is nothing new to me.

The 155" is going to push on the trails. My number 2 sled is a rev 800 that I extended to a 15"x144"x2" right when I bought it. I rode probably 50/50 with that sled and it wasn't too bad.

Now that I have the pro 600 with a 155 I put the rev back to a 136"x16"x1.75 and I honestly like it.

If you can, see if you can ride a friends crossover and rmk. Or find a dealer with both in stock and ask if you can try them out before you buy, most dealers will let you do this.

good luck

No complaints really bout my 12 600 144, didnt really cool that well on iced up trails last year. Ive since added scratchers, only tried em once and they seem to help. Also, had a crank seal go first ride this fall, which may have caused the heating i experienced last year? Havent hit any trails since the rebuild, just fields.

It did handle pretty good on the trail right out of the box, not near as nice with the limiter strap out all the way now though.
