2012 600 155 std.

I need convincing that after riding an 09 700 rmk that last couple winters i will be Ok on a new 2012 600 155. I'm starting to doubt my decision. Any expierience on one of these new 600's? i never had a chance to demo one last year.

Thanks

Well if the new 600 makes 130ish hp like ppl are saying and is 40lbs lighter than a dragon to start with, plus you get the benifits of a the new chassis (which really is huge...) then you should be pretty happy with your decision.

If you're disappointed in it, take the $1500 that you saved by buying a 600 instead of the 800 and put it toward a 660 kit and really forget the 09 700... that can be plan B...

convinced? :face-icon-small-coo

You will for sure have zero regrets.....you will be able to do a lot more than what even the the old 800 IQ was capable of. This motor feels as strong or stronger than the 800 IQ (largely because of the lightweight), and the chassis feels and handles light as a feather. Your new 600 would put the old 700 to shame, so have no worries and just enjoy!

In the Demo test, the 2012 600's speedo showed a top speed of 77 (at least that is the fastest someone had that particular sled). The 800 showed a top speed of 89. I understand it's not about top-end speed but that gives you an idea.

The 600 had better throttle response than the 800 and felt like it was just as strong to 60mph. The guys from Bozeman that Polaris had with to help folks get unstuck were very impressed with the 600.

What was left of Team Hozeman at the spring demo must have worked their usual magic in slowing the 600 down. Sorry, couldn't resist, I'm channeling others in the Gallatin Valley...

The dream-o-meter test shouldn't be that different between the two, but elevation, setup, and conditions matter. That same motor will hit triple digits at low elevation in a different chassis. My hunch is they are much closer on top in production. Above 70, aerodynamic drag and spinning tracks suck down speeds more than HP.

Here is a good article for you to read http://www.snowmobile.com/manufacturers/polaris/2012-polaris-600-prormk-155-review-video-1479.html

I read somewhere on here that it is still making 125 HP but with the new chassis, it feels stronger. Take it for what it's worth as it's just hearsay.

I picked up a '12 RMK 600 155" this year, coming from a '09 TD8. I'm more interested in having a good chassis working in concert with a reliable engine platform....if that's not enough for some peeps, you could always go with the Carls 660 kit like I'm doing :D

Couple other good threads on SW about the 600's

I think you are going to be just fine but I didn't compare the 600 I rode to a 700. The 09 700 you have been riding is a great sled, but even over the Dragon the Pro chassis is quite a bit differnent and nicer in my opinion.

The 600 Pro I spent the day on was butter smooth in the motor department, like all other 600s for the past few years from Polaris. I own an Edge 660 and I think the 600 Pro 'felt' all around better in the power department than it did, but that is primarily chassis difference.

I really think that if you enjoyed the 700 you'll really like the 600.

Dealer was telling me this weekend that the PRO 600 was faster in drag and hill climb than D8 based on fun testing he and his crew conducted. Looked me straight in the eye while he said it.

I'm on an 09 700 also and want to go PRO. Had an 07 600 155 that I loved in the trees, but it wasn't a climber...
