A little background. 290 super chute kit everything runs good. Changed my spark plugs and fired it up. Everything was good. Went to start up again and my gauge cluster is dead. Sled starts and runs with no issues. Swapped with another sled the gauge works on the other sled his gauge doesn't work on mine. All fuses look good. Any ideas where to look next?

Check the pins on the harness on the gauge, and the harness that attaches. Buddy had a similar problem when we pulled his hood off one time to do some work, we put his hood back on, and sled wouldn't start. We found that one of the pins in the harness had moved and lost connection when the harness got disconnected, it was really tough to see if you're not looking carefully. We ended up pushing that pin out, and re-solder'ing it back to the wire. Reassembled it back into the harness, and viola it ran perfect. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Double check the tail light fuse. The gauges are tied to that fuse.

Well found the problem. It is the fuse for the brake light. Now to find the cause. So far I have checked all the easy places but no luck. Looks like a stocker weekend on the 800

Alright, I bet the problem lies in the wires going to the reverse actuator.
They can become pinched and short out on the side of the case, & they are also tied in with the tail light fuse that is making your gauges not work.
It happens when you have things apart to add chaincase fluid.
Find your pinch, tape up the wires and re-route to ensure they don't pinch again when you cinch up the screws.
Then replace your tail light fuse for the last time.

Then have a beer & ride the 1100 this weekend....

Second place I checked. Everything is good on that front. Checked the wiring back to the tail light. Having the beer and thinking about what to check next.

Mine did the same. Found a loose (unused) rivet pinching the tail light wires between the cooler and the tunnel. Unplug the tail light wire behind the tank to test.

Good luck.

Thanks. First place I looked. I guess I'll start looking again on Monday!time to ride the stocker.
