2011 Yamaha Apex XTX or 2011 Arctic Cat Z1 turbo EXT

Hello to all...first time on the forum and looking for advice and opinions. I believe I bought what is to be my last 2 stroke...2016 Polaris axys switchback 800. I am know looking to buy a second sled to try and break into the 4 stroke world. I am looking a 2 used 4 strokes. 2011 Yamaha Apex XTX or 2011 Arctic Cat Z1 Turbo EXT. Both have 2000-ish miles and are in perfect condition. Both are asking 7000-7500$. That is the max I want to sink into a second sled. I will be buying one of these within the next 4 days. Please let me know your thoughts as I have researched these things far to much and am spinning. I am thinking Apex...but...Z1 power?
Thanks guys...great forum.

I think for that price you could do better

are the two sleds your looking at stock?

they sound like sleds youll end up sinking mucho denero into to ride them as well as the Polaris

you could probably find an extremely modded apex for that price from elsewhere or a nitro with better handling characteristics.

those cats weren't all that great after all the mods either, the apex would turn them out.

Yes both stock. I was under the impression that these are 2 of the best 4 strokes out there? I want to stay stock. Oh, the Yamaha has 1.75 lug track as opposed to the cats 1.25...both are 144"

I'm no four stroke expert but just on what I've seen yes and no to that last statement.

I guess it depends where you ride. If your mainly on trail either of those two will keep going for miles. If your going to get off trail the stock apex will tire you out, and the cat well probably do the same

I live on a large lake in Northwestern ON Canada. I run the lake a lot and we get tons of snow. I am sure the new switchback will be great but I do put on many miles in the states...I live right on the US border. I run the lake to the US trail system. No ditch banging for me...I am leaning toward the Apex due to its well known record and power steering. I understand power steering may be unnecessary but my quad has it and I wouldn't go back now. The cat is heavier but crazy power and heated seat!

For a dedicated trail machine that won't see any off trail I would go with the Yamaha. Very nice trail machine and pretty sweet with that power steering.

Well...one more sled has surfaced today...now adding to the Apex and Z1 Turbo is a 2012 Arctic cat XF1100 turbo procross with 2300miles and an EZ jacker 1.9. All updates done and he says he has no belt issues...chime in guys...decision will be made Monday.

I'd go Apex XTX all day. That sled is a blast on the trails. I call it the trail King. The Yamaha reliability cannot be matched. The Z1 is old technology, the XF is better but they're known belt eaters and need more maintenance. Power wise, durability, and driveability the Apex gets the nod in my book.
