2011 Smith OTG goggles

Has anyone tried the new Smith snow option OTG turbo goggles? They have a built in fan and come with a fitted nose/face mask. I'd like to know if the fan will actually keep your glasses clear, as well as the goggles? Also, wondering if the included face mask fits well in your helmet? I'd like a few opinions from users before spending $125 for them.

Thanks for any replies!

Unless they have made changes to this fan, it is always on or always off. It also pulls air IN. The problem with this is that if you go through fine powder snow, it can inhale snow and put a TON of moisture on the surface of the lenses.

I am a rep for Habervision and recommend our fan. It has a built in humidity sensor so it turns on when humidity levels go up to prevent fogging. Back off when they are at normal levels it turns off. Our fan also forces air OUT, so snow ingestion is not an issue.

take a look at our fan goggles:

For the same price or less you will get a goggle that is POLARIZED and has a better fan (IMHO). For $79 (Faro) you can get a non-polarized lenses and the same ($65) fan.

Let me know if you have any questions, also, if you don't like our fan or goggles we'll refund your money back. I think you will love them. Worry-Free purchase!

Have used Smith Turbo over the glasses for 2 years. Work excellent when temp is above zero--below zero have to come off immediately when stopped. If you are warm and sweaty the glasses will fog when stopped for a time but clear up immediately upon moving again. Mine has 2 AAA batteries and will run for several days. Although not optimum, so far they are the best solution I have found. I have found them for less than the $125 quoted above. Mine have the large area face foam(mask) found in some Smith goggles and works as well as anything I have found. I have not found any other goggle with a larger mask area.

Went researching this past fall for what hoped to be better solution to my glasses situation. Ended up purchasing Habervision goggles with the Haber eliminator (actually purchased 2 other Eliminators to put in other goggles as well). In my opinion the goggles are no better to worse than Smith. Would immediately fog upon stopping even with the Eliminator running 100% of the time. The goggle straps have no silicone in them and slide all around on ones helmet--you end up having to put rubber tape on the helmet to hold goggle strap in place.

The Haber Eliminators are a piece of Chinese Junk!! I have been extremely careful in the operation but one switch broke almost immediately. When another Eliminator got cold the battery door would not stay in place--battery falls out. They are very DELICATE--small, tiny parts with no strength. Have not called the seller yet but will this week. Would never purchase one again.

Not a happy camper!! Money wasted.

The original Smith fan was an intake fan, maybe they updated it.
Yes, the 2011 Smith otg turbo is definitely advertised to have a fan that exhausts the moisture out of your goggles. BTW, I was told by my local vendor of Scott/ Haber fans (which they had in stock), that the fan would fit in my Scott goggles, but would hit my glasses when installed. Thank you for your response, but I need a fan that is built into the frame.

I used a pair of the Smithturbo fan goggles, they are fantastic goggles, I absolutely love them! I also have 2 pairs of 509s with the fan in them and 2 pairs of habers with the fan in them. The smiths and the 509s work about the same, the habers have the best lens out of all of them, but they do not have the extra foam like the others. If you have to wear glasses go with the 509s or the smiths. I would recommend the 509s.

I like the nose/face mask idea, which is included with the Smiths. My breath box just doesn't fit with my Scotts while wearing glasses, and no nose/face coverage available for them. I just spent a week riding where I needed to shovel more times than I want to admit. It would be handy to remove goggles and mask all in one, plus glasses & helmet, before beginning this demeaning chore. It seems most are happy with the Smith turbos they've had years past. I'm not clear on the benefit of the 2011 version, over the prior years, that would justify the much higher price.

Maybe I am missing where it says differently but those appear to only be a single lenses goggle. No way you can use a single lenses in the winter.
Yes, they are single lense. Fortunately the lenses in Scott goggles are removable and the dual lense units fit right in.

I use a single lense fanless goggle year round.
