2011 F-150 w ecoboost

Anyone have one or know of someone with one? It looks like Ford did their homework with this one, all that power out of a little 3.5 V6. I heard gas mileage isnt great towing (like 6-8mpg) but i heard guys are getting 20+ empty. I dont do much towing so this could be the ticket for me, although does anyone know if you have to run premium with it being a twin turbo?

I know two people who have driven them. One was a Chevy guy. Neither of them could believe how much power they make. They both said they would buy one.

I've heard that after all the hype the mileage is still very similar to the V8's with similar (or more) power. Towing mileage no better than the other V8's. Lots of low-end torque tho, which is nice.

Regular fuel.
I want to get one in another year to see if there are any problems and get some low mileage used on the market.
I've had great luck with my old 5.4, 163k miles so far with nothing more than a spark plug change.

Have looked into one of these myself.
On the ford forums there is a WIDE range of user experience.
Some guys are getting amazing mileage, while others see no difference at all with the V8.

Really seems to depend on exactly what kind of daily driving you are doing.

People lie....

Learning to stay off the go juice when it's not needed really helps the economy. Also, I think in general for every 10 MPH over 60 MPH, you double your drag coefficient. So at 60 MPH your drag is "x" at 70 it is "xx", 80 is "xxx", etc, etc.

I am a fan of ****, so the cruise will be set at XXX, also known as 80.

I love the idea of these types of trucks. I currently have a Colorado now but would like something a little bigger. I would like this Ford based on its reviews, or a small diesel.

Test drove the Eco boost. My 5.4 is a joke compared to it in nearly every aspect. looks like it will suck fuel for those that like to get on the gas out of corners or stoplights.

I'm guessing no magic pill.....standard Turbo rules apply: Great on fuel when off-boost, awful on fuel when on the boost.

Pretty much except even when making boost the ecoboost will get the same if not better milage than my 5.4 with the help of an edge chip

Not always, it really depends on load. A turbo is more efficent because it is using wasted energy (exhaust gasses) to produce more power and be more efficent. If you are operating the turbo within the efficeny range, you should be fine, go out side of it and it will create excess heat and work harder for power.

i've got the 5.4 raptor, though it's got cold air intake, throttle body spacer, cat back exhaust and power programmer. i get 25 mpg on the highway and 19-20 mpg in the city along with lots of snap. i raced one of those eco-boosts the other day, and though i beat it, i was really impressed by the bottom end snap it had. i thought it would be laggy as hell but it pulled real hard. i've never had brand preference when it came to trucks, i was in love with toyota's concept yamahauler from a few years back and the raptor was the closest thing i could find that was actually on the market. i love this truck, it handles everything i've thrown at it and you don't see tons of them out there.

I bought one in april. went from a 07 GMC Crew with 5.3. The Eco Boost has amazing torque. I pull a 30 ft 7700lb camper and see a huge difference. I can tow at 65 mph and be running just a shade under 2k rpms....bumps up to 3k pulling hills. The GMC would be 4500 pulling the same hills.

Now, it did spend a week in the shop because of a cracked fuel pump assembly (something got over torque during assembly). Went in the 2nd day I owned it. This was only issue and runs great since.

As far as milage. From the research I have done, the 5.0 and EB are getting similar numbers. The problem with the reported MPGs is all of the confiurations available (Reg cab, SuperCab, crew, Axle Ratios ect).

Also, the way you drive the EB make a huge difference in MPG

All in all I LOVE this truck from the features to the awesome power.

LOL If you're getting 25mpg with ANY 5.4 in a pickup you must be doing alot of downhill driving.

...and resetting the factory mpg gauge after getting up to speed and cruising along with a good tailwind....then claiming that mpg as the average. No way you can average 25mpg with 5.4 V8.

ya you're right guys, i'm just a big bullsh!tter. you put exhaust and intake mods and hypertech power programmer into your truck and see for yourself. the guys at the shop here didn't believe me either when i first got here, but they're believers now. what the frig would i gain from lying about my mileage? i'm not even a ford guy, i just like the raptor is all. sheesh, go take a flying **** at a rolling donut!

Sorry, I don't buy it. If Ford could squeeze this kind of mileage out of a Raptor with a 5.4, especially this easily, they would make big money AND be able to sell the trucks for less (no gas guzzler tax).

Guys Ford did not make this truck straight out of the factory doors to get this kind of mileage, he said that himself. But when some one puts up grades on to their truck and drives it nicely like 60 or 65 mph I could see him getting that kind of mileage. I work at a Ford dealer ship not that that means anything but I could see it happening.
