2011 Duramax

I'm looking at a 2011 GMC Sierra 2500 HD with the 6.6L duramax. it's a really clean truck with only 20k miles. the guy that had it drove his camper around for a few months/year and had a different daily driver.

is there anything i need to know about this truck? i spoke to the local diesel tuning shop and he had nothing negative to say. I would be going with a def delete and a tuner once i get it.

I have a 2012 and it's been a solid truck. 2011 I believe the only issues were emission related so if you are deleting then it should be a solid truck!

I had an 2011 and put 100,000 trouble free miles on it and it never went to back to the shop for anything

I had a 2011 GMC Denali 2500HD. I loved the truck. Smooth strong power. Great interior although they have gotten better since. I miss that truck. Stuff like remote starter, exhaust brake and smooth ride are not part of my 2007 LBZ. I got rid of it to buy an older Duramax so the wife could have a new SUV. Good trucks, I never had a single issue with mine.

I have just under 90k on my 2011 Dmax. Check to make sure all the updates were done through GM for the DEF system (urea).

The DEF system has been a minor source of annoyance from time to time - always something minor (NOX sensors etc.) and always covered under warranty.

Also had to replace a couple of glow plugs (also under warranty) at about 80k.

Overall it is a great running truck and I am happy with the purchase and would do it all over again.

Have 2012 and has been great. Erea pump went at 131000 and deleted at that time. "Very low hp EFI Tune"
Only problem it's had.
180000 on it now. Runs perfect.
