2011 and on?

I am looking at buying a new m8 snopro, I can get one of my local shops 2010 demo sleds for a real good price and want to go that route. the only thing holding me back is if cat is going to release any big updates. anyone know anything?

m1

190 hp stock m1000 with new crank, from cat dealer, maybe just hype but he seemed convinced.

I am thinking of buying a '10 M8 too, but am waiting to see what happens for '11. Also rebates should get better after the '11's debut. ALSO, hate to say it, but in order for me to stay with Cat, they are going to have to come out with something big because Polaris came out with a 150 plus horse 800 155'' that weights 430 pounds.

That weight is not set in stone and is dry weight, by the time it comes out it will be close to AC and Doo. Looks like a nice sled though.

You wont see any big changes until 2012 I think, as the 2010 was such an improvement. Get the 2010

So it has less power then the cat 800 (around 160 hp), close to the same weight ( just have to lose the can on the cat) and you won't have to deal with the polaris engine and their wonderful first year issues, remind me again what is holding you back?

I wish cat won't do any major chassi changes. They might get crap for having a "old" chassi but since the others are still playing catch up with all of their new chasses every few years, cat must be doing something right. They could continue refining of course as nothing is perfect but it seems to me they don't need any "big" changes.

What they need is better (tunable) clutching, someone in the race department to do the shock valving. Some real skis, Do the same thing to the m1000 as the 2010 m8, and some more (better) motor mounts. always could loose a few lbs to.

Agreed,... and a factory pump gas turbo. Sign me up!

Go ahead and buy that new poo, have fun with 144 hp (thats all they can make stock) countless burn downs, reflashes, and recals, better keep your cat as a back up sled so you have somthing to ride while the poo spends all winter at the dealer

I am waiting to see if the M1000 will be back. Heard it will be and then heard it won't be. The motor was only offered in a few models for 2010, seemed like they were just using up the motors on the shelf. M1000HO would be sweet though, especially if they could drop a few pounds in the process. I was also hoping for a new chassis for 2011 but after spending some time on the new M8 last week I hope it stays the same. Handled unbelievable in the deep snow, and hey, its a mountain sled, that's what it is suppossed to do!!!!

X2 from a current POO owner. I found out last Saturday why they call them a dragon. Sooner or later someone will be "Dragon" you back to the trailer. I am bitter, sorry, mine just took a $hit. It's lookin more n more like some fence jumpin.

Hopefully they do similar update for one litre like they did to 800 and stick in old chassis. That engine would rock! After they get all small issues of the new big twin cleared out (if there's even one?), the new chassis at year 2012 would be really something :)

I really like Poo's new chassis. It looks really really good and functional. Hopefully Cat will do something similar as they have advangage in motor and DiamondDrive weight position. Center of the gravity would be more back and down compared to Poo. Sled would feel light as feather.

That kind of chassis also has one benefit more: You can make steering for the mountains like Poo did and another steering for the trails in brp style. So they could use one chassis for both (all) solutions.

I just started looking at the new polaris. its also something i am interested in as i currently ride an 08 dragon. I was definitely impressed with the cat though, a local dealer took me and my dad out to test ride them. he had two freshly uncrated 2010 m8 snopro's, one a 153 and one a 162. we got to put the first 50 miles on them and i can honestly say they were the best, easiest handling sleds ive ever ridden...and this is coming from a polaris guy!!
