2011 800 RMK Skid Plate

Yes without question. It will take you about 15 minutes, very easy to install. You'll have to drill a total of 6 holes, 4 in the front of the belly and 2 in the back. You'll have to drill out the 2 rivets that are currently there that will hold up the middle portion of the skid.

Are there any float plates available that give more protection? Do float plates give any advantage over skids?

I installed the SPG Float plate. I felt it had too much area that hung out under the A-Arms, so I removed it and modified. After removing some of the extra material, it definitely holds much less snow and Ice. The other positive on these is that they include a aluminum belly pan support, that goes on the inside of the pan and catches the fasteners from the skid plate. I will take some pics and add them tomorrow.

That aluminum belly pan support will also strenghten the standard front bumper a little. Not much. But maybe enought to prevent it from getting totaled.

The airframes are sweet! Holding up nicely. Put a very slight bow in one side the other day, but in defense it was from landing in a previous bombhole HARD, dropping off around a 40-50 footer. My ankle is in way worse shape than the boards.
As you can see from my sled, I really like SPG products. I have run their stuff on several other sleds, and decided to go with everything I could get from them on this one. They were even cool enough to run everything through white Powder for me. They make great stuff, and I have yet to have an issue with any of the pieces on my sled(s).

Holding out for a Holeshot skid plate. Thicker than the Polaris skid plate. Only problem is they arn't makin any for the pro rides, yet. I have holeshot on my other sleds and know it will be worth the wait.
