I was looking at the parts fiche today pondering some different ideas for mod motors.
Are ALL the bearings for the 600RS crank Isoflex grease Lubed?
It indicates that both the Mag-side inner (#3) and outer (#5) bearings and the Center bearings (#20) are all 420832575 bearings. It shows #5 & #20 as lubed by Isoflex grease ("W" in the parts dwg)... But not #3 (which does not have the "W" mark)
Is #3 the only bearing in the crank assembly that is lubed by Premix oil?
I thought that the 420832575 bearing was an open (not sealed) bearing.... How is the Isoflex grease supposed to stay in the bearing?
Is the part number incorrect in the fiche... OR is it calling out for "W" incorrectly...OR is #420832575 actually a Sealed bearing? [Or am I being really stupid and missing something obvious?]
I also noticed in the parts dwg. that BRP is using an unusual second seal (#9) on the PTO outer bearing ... what is the story with that?
Is there something special about the outer PTO bearing (#10, PN 420832603) that would require a dedicated seal or is there some kind of special lubrication strategy.
Any light that you can shed on this topic is much appreciated!!
Thank You for your time.
