what is the overall length of the new seat compared to the old seat? i definitely want to sit up higher, but i also do a lot of doubling when the boys and i are snowboarding, so i still need the length of the old seat.

Old seat is 32" to the very back.
New seat is 28" to the very back.
I thought there would be a bigger difference than just 4 inches.

4 inches is quite a bit when you are already riding "nutt-to-butt". i guess that isn't gonna work for me. might just have to experiment with making a stock seat taller.
Just new here but thought I'd offer this. We just went through this 2 weeks ago with my wife. She was going to buy a 2010 M6 but the seat issue came up when she needs to double our little guy when he doesn't want to ride his own machine. The seat was going to be to short. At the sled show in Edmonton we found a new factory seat off a 09 M that had been custom done. They had raised it 4" inches but left the length. She loved the height on the 2010 seat but hated the length so this was the perfect solution. Picked up the seat and a non current 09 M6 for her and she is happy. Here's a couple pic's and you can see the height difference. Her seat is comparable to the seat height on my 2010.
No problem. The women have to be happy or riding can be hell. The guy I bought this from was working the "Mountain Magic" booth. I don't know if they did/do the seat mod's there or not but it might be worth a call.
