I still own and love my 06 summit.,,,,,,,,,,,, But the 2010 nytro mtx se looks and from what ive read, is a pretty sweet ride. how are the 09's? how much do they weigh? the thing that has me really interested is the pull and go low maintenence. definitly not the price tag! is anyone gona get me to switch to the dark side? i've been a loyal doo rider for 8 years.:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;:D

Last year I too was hesitant to buy a nytro. I rode it stock for around 500 miles waiting for my turbo kit. Now there are 1600 problem free miles with boost.
Stock it was a fun sled only 3 things lacking track, rear suspension, and front suspension.
They truly are turn key and go sleds.
Very little wrench time needed.
08 nytro with way too much invested in it.:eek::eek::eek:

don't forget your 4th thing power:face-icon-small-sad

I too have been a loyal Doo rider but with all the issues and $40.00 gal injection oil it was time to try something different and the Nytro was it. I love it and am a die hard blue fan now. Still have my XP but you just can't beat a Nytro on boost. I can appreciate all the loyal 2 stroke guys out there but you know the old saying "You can either be on the train or watch it go by". Go with a Nytro, you won't be disappointed.

my opinion

I bought a 2009 MTX Nytro, after riding it for 50 kms, I sold it the handling is WILD!
at 5kms i hit a drift and put it on its side, my wife tipped it over and said the sled is very inpredictable, she rides the M8 now and says WAY better.
the sled stock is VERY VERY bad front suspension wise...VERY
I sold it with 50kms on it and would highly recommend any other brand...now if your changing out the front suspension and shocks that is a different story
sorry my opinion....and Im a true blue fan, love the four strokes...BUT up here in Canada the new Nytro 162" for 2010 is $16K + Im sorry but if you want to try and out climb a 600 - 700 RMK this sled stock would struggle!
Yamaha needs to get their heads outta there a** and build a Nytro withh 175hp, then it might be a contender for the 800 2 strokes!

Climb with a 600? Please

The 2010 will be a fabulous sled and will not be embarressed with sleds in the 800 class.

I ride a non boosted nytro with chassis/track changes and excell exhaust. It is similar to the 2010's.

It is an incredible sled. It is reliable and shocked my 800 and 1000 buddies 2 weeks ago in valemount in 2.5 ft of fresh.

It is a little skittish on the trail but the 2010 will handle better in that department.

Do not compare the 08,09 to the new version.

Here is my sled, I put on the fox evols after this pic and they are fabulous.

I really like the idea of closing the hood and not worry about opening it for another 2,000km. rode with 2 stock nytros this weekend and they did good. they werent the 1st through the trees and didnt get the himark but is a solid machine. hit trees rolled down the hill multiple times and no damage

for having a smaller tank they are great on fuel. the extra fuel they haul around was for the 2strokes :)

i think the nytro belongs in the 800 class than the 600 class

btw a friend was quoted $14,100 in edmonton for a 2010 nytro

im no means brand loyal (owned them all) it could be time to jump ship again if the 2010 is that much better!

I think if you took a poll(which Yamaha would NEVER<NEVER<NEVER<EVER :face-icon-small-sad do), you would find what you said to be the God honest truth:mad:. I have had 12 new yamis since 84. I have been FAR more loyal to them than they have been to me:mad:.You test ride the new models and tell the the truth in the questioner and do they listen?????:mad::mad:A snowball in hell has a better chance of them really listening to their customers. If it was not for R.S.us yami riders would probably still riding 136x1.5" track. Its is real sad it is going to take a whole lot of people moving over to buy a competitive sled out of the box, without having to spend literally $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ of bucks to be competitive. We all know that yamaha COULD;): build a real mtn sled. But seriously we all also know that they NEVER will. I for one am moving over to the light side of the force (probably an 800 or 1000 cat....with boost of course. No point in in bashing yami's they do build a reliable 4 stroke sled, just to bad that all the other drivers have showered and are already in the bar:beer; when the stock yamis come off the hill

I agree with you on one point, Yamaha is a very conservative company and probably never lead the way when it comes to mountain Sleds. However, they do build one hell of a reliable sled that with some mods is almost untouchable. Yes, a M8 or M1000 with a turbo is a climbing machine but your still going to spend 8gs on a turbo (much like on a nytro) and not have the reliability you do with a 4 stroke. Don't get me wrong, I love the new cats and may own one some day, but I love my Nytro and with boost you can hang with the boyz all day long and beat them back to the bar.

You know I alsolutely love the Yammi's!!! I really do...but I have a problem when I have witnessed all last year and again this year when my buddies...BONE Stock 144" rmk 600 CONSISTANTLY......all day long made the stock Nytros, look brutal...it wasnt even close!!!!!
trust me when i say that the Nytro can NOT out climb a RMK 600! witnessed a ton of times!
when we filled up at the pumps at the end of the day his fuel mileage was no different than the 600RMK Carbed as well!!
so until you can honsestly say that you have rode with the two and compared them then tell me about your experiences.
as for the Nytro being in the 800 class, I'm sorry but you OBVIOUSLY have never rode against a 800 with your Nytro then!! H*** I owned one!
Sorry to be the Bear of bad news...you guys ride your Yammis as for me Im officially a back on two strokes, WAY WAY more fun!!

HAHAHA its guys like you that make me laugh...seriously...i would say theres only one reason that that 600 RMK climbed higher than you was because you cant ride....sure they dont ride with the 800's or atleast the 2008, 2009's dont. But from what i read the 2010's have alot of nice upgrades, such as lighting up the sled, changing front and rear suspension, longer track option, and different attack angle which is a very major change. My opinion is buy the 2010. Ive never rode with a turbo, but im sure if you ride in the mountains, the one whose going to the top is the tubo nytro. Definately dont see any doo or poo or cat going up to the top! Just my opinion

ok with the 2010 fx nytro mtx se 162, can the stock 130hp engine power the 162 very fast. Or does it need a turbo/supercharger, if so boondocker or MCXpress?

Talk about a tease........give us MORE damn it....... not like it's a secret any more, no need to be hush lipped about it. So if we run the full header/Excell exhaust with the air box mod/filters an PCIII we will gain 10-12 H.P. according to Ulmer Racing and Excell Motorsports dyno's. This puts the Nytro at 145-150 H.p. NA how will it compare then with the 2 stroke climbmax? Give us something we can chew on here..........run the cams with a little higher compression and your around 155-160 H.p. NA in which it should compete nicely?.....thoughts?

Well......since U would have a fairly long drive........:beer;
Thinking about riding one with maybe a little 30-40 shot myself.:D
The sled is completely different similar to how an RX1 to Apex or 99 MM700 to 2000 MM700 which worked very well in it's time. The only similar items are the engine, bulkhead, and fuel tank. The rest is changed for the better.;)
Rear skid which is not only lighter has new rail angle allowing the sled to climb on the snow more effectively, uncoupled as standard or can be coupled with OEM coupling blocks for higher HP applications. Front end is improved allowing the front end to stay very flat on all corners and adding stability for those high speed groomed days.:D The 162 single ply is very light and all new durometer is much improved in deep snow capabilities and braking downhill.
With the mountain mod exhaust and seat program it will take another 18 lbs off which would be very cool IMO;)
To answer your question..........it'll get around any of our big mountains in B.C............so I'm sure it will work anywhere:beer;
Yamafest in Revy April4th........see ya there!!

You rode a sled for 50km and sold it? Did you not ride one before you bought a Nytro? You actually think $16,000 is what the price will be? That's full retail man,not the selling price. this years Nytro sold for $11.200 at my dealer and retailed for $14+. That $16,000 will likely be more like $14 and if you look at the changes(shocks/trck/etc) there is decent value there for the extra bucks.
I don't like my buddies M1 but he can ride circles around me. I never liked another buddies Polaris sleds either but he does just fine with them. I had over 15,000mi on rev chasis and was still learning something about them every time i rode.
Obviously I don't agree with you but "to each his own" right? Power sucks on Nytro for sure but you gotta ride more than 50km to give handling a fair assessment. JMO
