2010 M8 SnoPro stock clutching

I just looked under the hood of a 2010 M8 SP 162". Stock clutching 6000-9000 feet was primary clutch orange/black spring 68 gram weights secondary clutch orange spring 36 degree helix. I also read somewhere that they geared the 2010 M8s down from 57/63 to 55/65 in the diamond drives. I know that the 2010s are supposed to rev to around 8100-8200, but I found the clutching interesting. I thought they would be throwing more weight than 68 grams especially with the lower gearing on the diamond drives. Hopefully its not another 2007 M8 where they came with 68 grams and really should have been running 73 grams.

why would they do that if it didnt work the first time im gonna be pissed if my sled doest run.. if u pay 10000 for something it should work that dealership should set it up right for where u are at imo

you need lighter weight to turn more RPM, they raised the peak RPMs so.......

I totally agree with that. What is interesting to me is that my 2007 M8 162" with SLP pipe set was turning 8100 rpms at 8-9000 feet with 70 gram AC weights and my 2009 HCR with Cutlers intake / D&D pipe, y-pipe, & can turns 8100 rpms 8-9000 feet with 73 gram AC weights. Both of these sleds have the stock 57/63 gearing in the diamond drive and stock secondary clutching. I think the reason the 2010 demo sleds felt so much better than the 2009s is a combination of the engine putting out a few more horses and the lower gearing in the diamond drive (55/65). If Arctic Cat isn't off on their 2010 clutching, I would venture to guess that somebody with a 2009 M8 with a SLP pipe setup could change their gearing to 55/65 and be right there with the 2010 M8s.

I think we need some snow so you pesimists go ride your new kitty before you start overthinking things.:D

I feel that I am being optimistic that those of us that aren't riding the new cats will be able to keep up without breaking the bank. I totally agree with you that we need snow, then all I would have to think about is where to ride.:face-icon-small-hap

2010 Clutching

We had the 2010 Demo's at my shop last year and for 6-8 we put 67's in them seamed about right. We will have to see and the Orange Black it like the Orange White and that is good this one of the first things I change on a Normally aspirated sled.
When we demoed the 10 last year we had every thing from M1000 Ported, 2009 M8 ported and they were all neck and neck. so it should be a good year.

Man, I tried like crazy to get a new Cat, but I guess I will fit into the catching up category. I have to ride the Twin piper Poo again, better than sittin at hope I guess.

If anyone is looking to gear down a 2009 M I'm looking for some 57-63 gears for my 2010 crossfire.

Aside. I was looking at the 2009 parts diagrams m vs. crossfire clutch weights. Does anyone have part numbers/grams charts?

m stock #0146-716= crossfire over 9000 weight makes sense
m 0-3000 = cf 3-6000 same weight part number
m 3-6000 = cf 6-9000 makes sense
m over 9000= Stock CF #0146-703??? WTF???

same primary (yellow white) and secondary (orange) springs
m 44/40 up to 6000 - over 6000 36
cf 46/40 up to 6000 - over 6000 36
