Anyone with a 2010 M8 have a rough idle, seems like a lot of vibration, and twice I had the engine die? The sled otherwise runs great, but the idle seems rough and 2 times at the end of a full days riding it has died on me while idling......Plenty of gas in the tank... Any thoughts?

I have also not adjusted the belt deflection yet, still has the very hard engagement, sounds like I need to change out the secondary shim.

Thanks,

John

Mine ran rough for the first tank. Seems to be better now. But when it's 20 below, dam hard to pull over. Two different times, on second pull fired and died. I'm thinking with everything being so cold not spinning fast enough. Had to hold throttle full open to get started.(flooded) Any suggestions?

hm

seems to me if it dont start the second pull just beaaarly push the throttle 1/8th of a throttle and it will fire everytime, wierd! and i usually only run into this problem the higher elevation i get.

Ive had a 2010 m8 sp for 2 weeks now and it rattles at Idle , shakes lots more than my m1 does or my buddies dragon, it starts on the 3rd pull every time when cold, and I had to change the secondary shim to the one provided in the tool kit , its twice as thick and that stopped the bang, there was so much deflection the belt was hitting the engine compartment on the bottom, I need to check it again because there is a little bang from time to time. I belive the Idle shake is normal, do you guts get incrediblly good gas mileage, at least I think I do, highmarking and hill climing I get 10+ and on trails I get 12+, my buddies 2010 dragon 800 gets 7 and my m1 gets about 6-7. On trails I could get better but Im always gunning it or having fun, but If I tried to conserve I could prolly get 14+

My 2010 also vibrates a lot at idle, guess that is a standard feature... :)

I replaced the medium secondary shim with both the thickest and the thinnest shims to get good belt tenstion, big difference in smoothness..

I noticed the same thing with mileage, I can't believe how good it does with the performance we are getting. My new M8 so far has matched or came out ahead of my dads 08 RMK 700 every ride.

I also had to add the larger shim, I may need to add the smaller one on top but I'm going to keep an eye on it.

Funny you mention gas mileage, I had to play trail tour guide this weekend with our newbie guests visiting for New Years. At the end of the day I had the best mileage between our M6 141, a 2009 F5, and a 2007 Yamaha Venture. Overall I have noticed the mileage has been really good, much better than expected. I suppose the idel shake is something to deal with, overall I LOVE this sled!

rougher idle than prev. 800 is the price we pay for quick revs, due to lighter crank (dampened less), and more compression for more power:)

I truly belive I could ride 120 miles without filling up and my friends who I ride with and my 02 mc 800efi all get about 75 miles thats a big difference. also I think I need to add the thin washer too, I will check tomorrow. I have been really happy with arctic cats performance, but if I had it to do over I might get a crossover instead of a sp. I had enough cash to buy any sled on the market and I am glad I chose A/C.
