2010 M8 or XP ????

the way I like to ride the XP sucks for me. The only thing the XP is good for is going in a straight line. That 16" wide track is hard to side hill or should i say it harder to side hill then a polaris or a cat. Im getting a cat when my 900 sells.

If your comming off a dragon, go for the M8, very easy to jump back and forth between the chassis because the handle very similar. If you have never riden an XP, I suggest you try one before even considering it. I'm not saying it's a bad sled, but the handling is very very different then AC or Poo, much harder to roll over imo.

the 2010 xp works a little better but still takes improvement to keep up with 2010 m8. All the 09's I saw run together the 09 m8 was coming out on top, never did see a xp beat one, but I road with a 2010 xp with some work and was impressed still not as much as the 2010 m8.

X2 on the D8 to m8 switch very easy.

You should post the same question over in the skidoo forum and see what they say. maybe you have :) I would like to see what those guys have to say.

Ever since the xp came out, its all about them. you'll just keep hearing about how much weight matters and how light they are when in reality both sleds with everything but gas are very close to the same weight. only a few can actually tell you the truth. They do work great in very light snow though, and in those conditions I think both 2010 would come down to rider (the sleds would be close) but in heavier snow I've been picking on xp's since they came out.

I did the same thing mid-season last year. Love my 09 and have heard great things about the 10 just want to see if the motor holds up. They took alot of weight out of the crank. As far as the doo if you are a motocycle rider it seems you will have less of a transition period than with the cat. I don't like the way they ride but I have seen guys do amazing things on them, but my cat does that also (just sometimes without a rider). The power track is hands down the best I have seen in the powder and works great in spring snow also. The 16 wide track does not side will IMO as easy athough it will work. Of course we here at cat like cats, and I would have to say the poo is a little more agile on the sidehill thing but not by much and my poo would throw me downhill when it would die, but that another topic. Garry

You need to ride an XP and an M back to back. The XP is impossible to side hill or roll on it's side. For that matter it's scary in a straightline in heavy snow. It feels like it will buck you off of it at anytime. No comparison in my opinion

I'm on a 2010. For what it's worth to climb MAYBE a few feet above me (depending on rider, snow conditions, track length, etc.)... repeat MAYBE..... Why not go with a sled that's super easy and nimble to ride.. AKA the M. I don't get the mentality of crowding over to Doo.

You can adjust the xp and ride it just like anything else, it comes down to the rider, most people don't know how to ride the xp and spend more time fighting it then riding it. The main reason I went to cat was the reliable susuki motors and how much more power you can get out of them with a few mods. The 2010 m8's already have turbos on them and being ridden daily. If some of you are worried about the new motor go see a psychiatrist for owning another brand like a rmk 900. The new crank is just as strong, its just never been done to loose weight, before they wanted the crank smooth to let the air flow through smoothly and with the new crank it creates the need of better tuning because the air can go different places and cause vortex and all kinds of other thing, but with new technology AC has done it and created a fuel map to make it all work. Dam smart if you ask me, remove weight where its not needed and make the motor snappy. The AC warranty has been the best as well in 05 coming out with a bumper to bumper warranty from the factory!

Try both sleds first, I was so against the XP and used to bash it... but now I own one. :D

Took me half a day to learn how to ride the XP and now its the funnest sled I've ever ridden! I didn't like how out of date the m-series is and didn't think it would be much of an upgrade coming off my king cat.
I can carve and sidehill this XP like no other, don't believe everything you read online! Saying this thought cat has good sleds, I just think they need to "upgrade" the M-series

Why upgrade the best chassis out there right now?? ha just kidding, its all rider preference, I believe anybody can learn to ride any sled really!

I like doo's and always have But

Have you havent spent much time on a 09 and newer M have you. It is a huge upgrade from 08. Its hard to change a chassis that is still considered the best mountain/boondocking sled on the market. The overall design of the chassis is to put the motor low for good balance, everything is already tight in the bulk head the only real improvement (until someone gets radical) would be ergonomics. A lot of people would just like to see something that looks new and cool. I personally like the fact that I can add a goggle holder, muff pot and what ever else, unlike an xp. I was doo die hard until 07. AC just has way more to offer for my kind of riding. If they are true mountain sleds why do they come with sway bars? completely usless.
