2010 M8 Oil usage

Just bought my 2010 M8 and have 90 miles on it... used to have an 08 M8 and I know the 08's were rich on oil from factory and you could turn the oiler down... just curious if the 2010's are the same? It appears to be using about the same amount of oil as my old 08.... ball park but the new 2010 is also putting out 20 hp more... your thoughts? Also if a person is capable to turn the oiler down how do you do it and how many turns which way?

thanks,
Ryan

Mine was bearly using any oil. It can be adjusted. you have to pull the belly pan off and you will need a little mirror that you can put up inside. there are 2 hash marks on your oil pump and before you do any adjusting you want to make sure that you are between the 2 marks . it should be = to the first mark with the throttle in idle position. then you want to have someone grab full throttle and make sure the oil pump hash mark does not go past the second mark. once you have checked to see if you are between the 2 marks or right on them you can pop the arm off the 2 ball ends that hold it on. Shortening the rod adds more oil and lengthening takes away oil. start with one full revolution no more and make sure you cinch up the nut on the rod after you adjust it

How much oil should it be using? I will do a check first to see how much oil I am burning... see if its 40:1 . . . 50:1... etc.

What type of gas/oil ratio should I be seeing on the 2010 M8? If it is set properly I will leave alone but if its over oiled I will adjust.

Thanks,
Ryan

Don't know the ratio off hand but your owners manual will tell . Be careful cause its better to use a little too much than not enough .

Same goes for an m7?
