so with the m8 at 160hp what is the m1000 hp now ? is it the same as last year ? what was it ?
mike:D

I've heard the m1000 for 2010 has the same hps as the 09's do and if the m8 run's good next year, arctic cat will either drop the m1000 or do some changes on it.

M1000=TORQUE!

The M8 even with the same HP, is not going to have the same torque.

More Torque = More Acceleration, More Speed, More Climbability

All depends on your type of riding I guess. Line'em on a hill though and the torque comes thru every time. My '09 M1000 feels as good as my wife's M8 when boondocking. I came from wrestling a KK all the time too though.

Not sure on the hp Mikey ....... looks like carryover '09's will be the best buy based on the minimal improvements for 2010.

here's one Mike ........... http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/rvs/1061425932.html

The m1000 is a POS, i know from experience, would rather have an M8 or 7 anyday!

I understand how you guys mean with the sled being a pig, but weight is SOOO easy to lose off the 1000! Also, last year I decided to go with a 141,

I'd so rather have a shorter track than less motor. The shorter track makes the 1000 feel VERY light, the skis are never on the ground & it's so much more enjoyable to ride than my 153/156 it's not even funny.
There are a bunch of people here that have ridden my sled & decided to get rid of the longer track next year, I don't know anyone that has decided to go with a smaller engine!!

I have two buddies who ride M1000s. both had 08s and now ride 09s.. and as far as the belt issue they have all run flawless!! Fun sled to ride for sure but they're NOT for everybody. Know that I think of it..Iknow a lot of others who have never had a problem with theirs..:)

M100/versus M8

I ride a M1000 at 9/11000ft Some modes with new track. mine is 2007. There is no comparison in power/torq. Yes there something to say about boondocking, but with the new track it is much better What is the old saying, nothing replaces HP/Cubic inches.

M8/versus M1000

My 2007 with some mods/powerclaw track is far so much better than my 2009 M8. Sorry if you ride hard and high your M8 wont be there. Yes my M8 is nice for boondocking, but when youride 9/11000ft the M1000 is king.

AC have been very tactical regarding whats new each year on this M sleds..
They could easily have delivered a 160hp m8 in 2005,,if they wanted.
So I gess the real news is comming in 2011....A new M sled with a 180bhp engine...or so...and its not gona be a M8.

I don't care what you all say... It's still a pig.

The 1000 motor is great for running trails or lakes but in the woods the M 8 walks all over it. And now with the new motor it just doesn't make any sense. Notice how nothing was done to the M1000 for 2010.... why is that???? Because it's on the way out.

If you just pound the hill all day long then you've got me there...but don't you get bored with that?

I really enjoy watching a buddy of mine go up a hill on his m1000, it by far is the best point and shoot hill climb sled in our group and we have a stock 09m8 162, a 09 m8162 with slp mods and air box, an an m8162 that so far is stock with the exception of venting. all three are very good sleds but the 1k still sets the high mark every time. Thats ok with me cause I like the easiness with which I can throw around my M8. Oh one more thing I also know that no matter how high I climb and end up getting stuck there still is a sled at the bottom of the hill that can come up and help me out.:D:D:D
