2010 m8. Living up to the Hype?

Hey guys, I'm just wondering if the new m8 sleds are working as good as everyone said they would before the snow was even here. I've been riding an XP the last couple years, and have been thinking of getting a new one. Sounds like 2010 xp's are working better than the previous years, but what about that m8. I looked at a new one, and I liked what I saw. I'm sure I can't go wrong either way, and both brands have excellent dealers in our area. Just looking for some feedback.

only 70 miles on mine but it fricken rips, just jumps out of the snow like a scalded cat:D

I rode a 10 snowpro last week and dont see what the hype is about, Yes they are better and snappier than previous years which had little snap, So yes a big improvement, It really feels like my backup 06 doo sled in the power dept.suspension is harsh in the rear and needs improvement, the clutching was spot on for the altitude we were at, It is a nice package,If your riding a doo the chassis will feel totally differant. Not saying bad just a huge change in Ergos

I think the 2010's run considerately better than the 09. I would not buy a sled before riding and seeing for myself. Tell your dealer to let you take one to the woods and compare against some xp's. Let us know your choice.

no hype....the 2010 m-8 is for real...best stock sled i've had, and i get 1 or 2 every year....better than my 08 xp for sure.....both good sleds, but the m-8 handles easier, better clutching, stronger engine...:D

The XP will be easier on fuel, but thats the end of the advantages. Either of them will take a person places he should'nt be!

I only seen one so far this year and it was a 153" track...... it was a real deep day 3ft plus and no tracks.
I was impressed.......he was always leading his group (mostly XPs) and seem to make it to the top of the hill first and had to wait quite a while for his buddys to bash their way to the top.
I would really like to try one (162" powerclaw) and I think I would want one!!
Looks like its for real.

I have a 2009 M8 162 sno pro, with a RKT shim and head kit
and I have just bought a 2010 HCR completely stock this new one certainly has the torque! wow does this thing pull hard, very very playful!
I do know that in its bone stock state (completely box stock) it beats my buddys Assault with SLP kit and big horn intake, BADLY!.... im about 3-4 lengths around the 500ft mark in a drag race and pulling away hard!
my M8 is about 1-2 lengths behind me in that same race
Very impressed for a sled with 20 miles on it!
LOVE IT!! good job AC!

yeah it works

I have had many cats, turbo m's, big bore m's, lightweight mildy modded m's and I switched to doo for the first ride this year. lightweighted and mild motor mods, clutching dialed in. I had 3 days on the doo and was quite impressed, then a mishap ended the doo days. I picked up an 2010 M8 LE 153" with the insurance money, best thing I have ever done. noticable better than modded xp's with lighther riders on them. pulled up to a small chute with about 6 different m's and 6 different xps in 2 different groups all were gettting about 3/4's the way out the top on the 2 chutes in this bowl. It took me 2-3 pulls on each shoot but I was able to get out the top of both, that stirred up a couple of guys egos in the other groups and they began pulling the 2 chutes again, not one made it out. Don't take this as bragging, the chutes were very mild in my opinion, but with the fresh snow on them made them slightly difficult to turn enough track speed to pull the tops. The 2 1200 cats in my group were able to pull them after I put the track over, on a side note. This has been the most fun I have had on a stock snowmobile in a long time. Best part about it, no 6 hour nights working in the trailer tweaking and tuning, just ride. Very impressed and I get 30-50days a year in the hills and usually switch sleds every 15 days or so. I have this one for sale, but only because I want to change to a 162" if it werent for that I would keep the thing for a long while (at least one full season).

I have 700 km on my M8 153" after today and it is by far the best sled I have ever ridden. It consistantly out climbs 08/09/10 XP's of all track lenghts, outclimbs my 2010 M1000 162" and is so agile it's crazy. These sleds are the "real deal", no hype here!

The XP is NOT easier on fuel. Rode twice with my buddy on a 2010 XP 154". We ride the same style wise. At the end of both rides, we were within .2 of a gallon on fill ups. My M sled took less.
