Dry weight of an 09 m8 162 sp was 463 dry, If you snow checked last spring you got the boss seat that dropped off another9lb's which put it at 452 or 3 dry, now add on the slp single pipe/can combo which drops off another 5lb and you're at 448 or 9 dry. and at 160 hp. Now lets look at the 10 for arguments sake and use the 10 m8 162 sp, for the baseline weight lets use the 09 463 dry. According to cats web site the new seat drops 3.5lb from the sled, 463-3.5=459.5 on top of that according to the video 4.5 on the crank, now we are at 455lb dry, I'll give the new ski's 1lb, the stock skis are already light, that puts it at 454. At this point we don't know what the new tuned pipe and can will weight in at, will it be similar to slp's weight or slightly more. I say slightly more due to Noise requirements from EPA so I'll give the new exhaust 4lb weight reduction although there is no mention of weight loss from this. That puts the new 2010 M8 162 sp that puts out 157 hp according to the official sign at the dealer show to weight in at 451lb. SO the 09 M8 162sp with slp single and boss seat looks to be less weight. Maybe that's why you don't see any dry weight bragging this year. For just a few dollars you can make your 09 M8 162 very similar to the 2010. I like what Cat did for 2010, and if you own an 05 through 08 it would be worth it to upgrade but if you snowchecked an 09 last spring, got the boss seat as part of the deal and want to get ot 160 hp, going the slp route is the better cost option.
