2010 M8- Dying, and going into reverse

Hey guys. I have a 2010 M8 snopro 153, boondocker pumpgas turbo with electronic boost controller and timing key, running an A/F gauge. rest is fairly stock. Recently tried to sell it, and it came back into my ownership because it wasn't running good from day one. I've never had any issues with my sled except for the safety switch inside the handle bar throttle block. Had to cut the wire and put a quick connect in line.

Apparently the Sled was bogging right down then throwing the engine into reverse (electronic reverse), This was after they had stopped in for a break at a cabin. Then the next day our the same thing execpt it was also shutting down. I suspect the handlebar block that houses the reverse and kill switch, or the harness has water gotten into it. I was told they disconnected the harness to try and get the sled back to the trucks, but with no success ( i assume possibly the right harness was not disconnected)

Has anyone seen anything like this before, and pointers on where to go. Im going to clean and grease the harness connectors again, and maybe open up the switch housing.

Thanks,Mark

I had same thing happen to my sled last season.it would go into reverse when ever it wanted to.
When I stripped sled down I did find a broken ground wire where the wiring comes out of the stator.
I fixed that wire and it has not happened since then.

Water / snow

It gets in the throttle lever housing.

Pull it apart dry it and the silicon holes shut

Also water in ecu plugs can raise heck.

^^ x2. I've seen a few times. The large plug in behind the handlebars also can get moisture seeping into it and give you problems.

The guy pulled the switch apart blew IT out, greased it and sealed it with silicone. I pulled all connections apart and cleaned and greased. Appearently the issue got worse with high beams and handlebar warmers on. I checked out the wires coming from the stator and they're all connected inside and go into a protected harness. Sleds seems to run fine out of a heated garage. So moisture related? Sled will start right back up after it dies.
