2010 M8 aftermarket intakes?

Anybody have experience with aftermarket intakes inducing bogs on a 2010 M8? Or using the stock airbox/horn with a snow filter installed on the horn?

Using the BDX I did vent it a little different than they suggested but it dropped 9lbs and runs great i even think it cleaned up the low end a little bit no bogs

Didn't we discuss this yesterday............maybe just Déjà vu

looks like it was deleted or removed by mods or the original poster. i thought we had a pretty good conversation about this going. not very productive. ski

what? did someone say something negative about an advertiser or something? (heaven forbid...) Gets old seeing threads deleted...

I mentioned to FCR yesterday that someone had posted on here a K&N type filter on the horn of the stock airbox. That seemed like a viable option as you'd at least lose the weight from the plenum.

BCIL,
I deleted it and reposted a better couple of questions in hopes of getting some info from guys who are actually using aftermarket intakes on 2010 M8's.
And look it worked, the first post was actually from someone who has experience with the products in question!

Dave and Ski, thanks for the input. I appreciate the opinions but am looking to hear from some people with real world experience using aftermarket intakes on the 2010 M8 and whether they have had any bogging issues. The other thread turned into a "put it back to stockfest" real quick... not very productive like Ski said.

You guys may be right, lets find out what the concensus is from the people who are using them

I have a bdx intake on my 2010 M8. It works great, however I did add a boondocker fuel contorller. I also have a speedwerx tunnel dump muffler and with this combination, my sled does not bog and runs great.

Thanks Matt,
Did you ever run the intake on the sled before the box was added?

we have one of our 2010 M8's set up with a BD-X intake and have run it with both the Skinz Super Q and Ultra Q can. No other mods other than different clutch spring...no bog....ever!

After the 5th Pooass 800CFI top end on my assult I picked up a 2010 HCR on Feb 5th. Put on over 1200 miles on it in 2 months. This has been the best Kitty Cat i have ever had. Did break 2 primary spring and put in a titanium that fixed the problem. Put on 2Cool vents side pannels and their dash intake kit. The intake kit has worked fantastic and I will be using on my 2011 HCR also. There is zero bog and works perfect in the deep pow wow. 2cool vents are made very well and has been 1 of the best air mods I have ever done on the 26 Cats i have owned. I also am amazed how well this 2010 800 motor works. Thank you Cat for stepping up to the plate and dialing in a motor, making it run perfect up to 14880 feet on my max altimeter.

FCR, I ran it for 2 days without the fuel controller and was pretty nervous. The sled had that feeling that it was running a little too good. Added a fuel pressure regulator, which I later found out was a mistake. That way overloaded my fuel delivery on the low to mid range. VOHK dialed in my boondocker box and its performance has been spot on every since.

I'm pretty sure you need to recalibrate your altimeter if it's showing 14880!

Thx Matt,

Haha... I was wondering if that sled was running as it was dangling from a chopper.

Or maybe a REALLY big jump?

A number of weeks ago on a previous post I was asked if I had pics for the mod I was running on my 09 HCR. What I am running is the 440 sno pro intake, part number 1670-315, on my stock air box and a K&N air filter part number RC-5059....the dry charger you will need to sort out as K&N doesn't have one for this filter, I purchased a larger one and fitted it. This mod will rmove all the junk under the hood and cut about 5 lbs, this also creates more air flow around the engine. There is 2 ways to add this air horn (one does the horn either way), either cut the bottom of the horn off and rivet the top part to the air box or cut the air box and fit the horn....I choose to cut the air box and fit the horn....this allowed me the option of directing the air to the throttle bodies using the base of the horn. K&N air filters are full of oil, now after one has installed and running one will find that the engine will miss on WOT pulls for the first couple of pulls... checked the plugs and they where dark and the EGTs were down about 100*F. After it cleaned up I found that the bottom end was cleaner, better throttle response, my EGT temps didn't change from before, no increase in engine noise (although I do run MBRP can). I tryed to add a couple of pics to no avail but will try again.....I can mod up engine etc but I can't figure out how to add pics.

Just an up-date I was able to get a couple of pics on my photo album if your interested. A couple more pieces you would need would be 4.5 inch gear clamp, 3-4 plastic rivets and silicone sealer around the base of the horn....hope that helps. Cheers
