Just wondering if anybody with the 2010 M8 had a chance to demo the new Pro Rmk 800 and what the consensus between the two were?

I got to ride one up at the expo in west yellowstone. We were on really hard pack so keep that in mind.

The pro was a nicer ride on the trail, and had smooth engagement compared to the m8. Didn't like the handle bar set up and the pull cord was way too long for a shorter person like me. This being an issue since in order to start them you have to pull the cord all the way out- no half pulls.

The m8 has a lot more power, the seat is way comfier then the pro, the adjustable handle bars are very handy, the m8 does have a bit of vibration but you get use to that very quickly. The stock skis stuck.

I know the cat handles really well in the powder, can't comment on the poo since I really don't know.

I would say it depends on what you are looking for? Something smooth and easy to ride on the trails go with the poo (if you are brave enough to trust polaris' engines after all the trouble they have been having.) If you are looking for something very powerful stock yet reliable and just plain fun to ride go with the cat.

keep in mind the m series is the reigning champ-2011 polaris is 35 lbs lighter

with about the same HP, both are easy to ride and help make beginners look good, time will tell if they hold up over time my buddies just snow checked 4 of the RMk Pro's. i can't wait to whoop there azz with my 09 m1000 with full SLP kit. We hit the Steep and Deep in MT. but as far as new sleds go the 2011 set the bar really high , hopefully Cat pulls their heads out in 2012. the 2012 M needs to lose 30 lbs and +30 HP increase in HP with a better suspension, or chassis

The 2011 M8 and 2011 XP 8's both make more power the the Poo. Polaris designed a new chassis and dropped weight because they still cant figure out how to build an 800 mill with decent power; They now have a competitive Power-weight ratio it just didn't come from motor refinement . I am happy with the Power to weight ratio of the 2010-2011 M8, and the chassis just flat out works We will see what the real weight of the Poo is come production time; Ever notice the Summit XP's have gained weight each and every year since they came out? 2012 is CAT's 50th anniversary, I think we would all love to see some new stuff.

Asking to add 30 HP to a mill that is already arguably the most powerful 800 on the market is a little unreasonable, shedding weight i certainly more realistic. I would like to see some direct injection as well, the ETEC's are pretty cool.

The Pro RMK looks sweet but the weight loss came at a price, stand on the running boards and you will know what I'm talking about. Remember the boards on the old Phazers and Exciters? Same thing, but just more grip on em.
