2010 Feel's like something is slipping/grinding at 7000rpm?????

2010 Feel's like something is slipping at 7000rpm (turns out it's a primary bushing)

See post #7 for update

2010 CF800. At slow speeds at 6800-7100 rpm it feels like my belt or something is slipping big time Before it shifts. Actualy almost feels like the diamond drive grinds and slips.

major black marks about 2/3 up the primary.
some further into the secondary
Won't pull as much rpm as it used to at WOT. but still pulls and moves quick at wot.

Broken primary spring maybe?

Any other suggestions? It's weird.

Broken pri spring, track ratcheting, or belt slipping in secondary.

If you are in super fluffy fine powder the secondary sucks snow through teh left footwell and slips the belt.

worst

worst case the diamond drive bearing is failing you can drain you oil and check for shrapnel if you want a sense of security in it! :)

As mentioned above, maby the belt is slipping when wet w/ powder getting in, or it's stretching when warm. A new belt will solve that. As for grinding, track rachet is an easy check and fix. Drop oil in the diamond drive and check for shavings, if there is a good quanity, the DD or a bearing is going out. I lost my DD in December on my M8. It made a grinding noise too. Trust me, they don't give those puppies away!! Good luck

Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it! It 's still under warranty right??

Turned out it's a primary clutch bushing on the moveable sheave. Binding and then the belt slips. Clutch is covered under warranty but the dealer said they can't warranty the 2 belts dusted diagnosing it. Cat says not to even put them on the work order. They gave me a number to call, hopefully they will replace them for me. I'm new to cat. Love the sled but I hope they understand that it's not my fault the bushing went and ruined the belts. I could understand, no warranty on belts if it was clutch aligment or just a rider going to hard for too long.
