2010 engines

hey fellas, did polaris figure out there engine problems in the 2010 models, understood they had some issues in previous years (dragons) looking at a used very low miles 2010 dragon rmk thanx ....

I think everyone...except maybe yamahammer...had engine problems to some degree over the last few years.
But to answer your question directly, they started to use a single ring design in the piston and they were recalled, rebuilt and updated on poo's nickle....at least through the good dealers.

I never had one issue with my motor. I am still un-updated. 2009 Polaris Assault. My three other brothers all have Dragons, two 2009's and 1 2010. NONE of them had any motor issues, they are all updated.

I still believe this was more of a setup issue than anything. My sled runs so strong that I am not sure I want to get the update.

It is more of a fuel delivery issue and fuel issue than anything else IMHO. Use good, proper octane fuel, clean as well. Good luck.

To answer your question. No, they did not get it figured out. The 2010 sleds and updates still experienced an unusual number of failures. They are all over the board as to altitudes and temps where they fail so you can't really rule anything out. Some guys never have an issue and think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Others haven't had a sled that runs right in 3 years time.
As Marv stated it seems to be more or less a fueling issue. Many people have solved the problems by adding a Power Commander V. I added one to my sled (among other things) and have been very pleased.
When they run they run great, but they don't seem immune to failure or running issues. I wish I could give more positive feedback, but the truth is that you are spinning a roulette wheel with these sleds. If you are prepared to spend a little money on a power commanded you will likely have a really good sled. The chassis it great too. You may want to inquire why they are selling it with such low miles.

thanx fellas i really appreciate the honest comments posted on here, the dragon i'm looking at was used by the security team here in B.C while the winter olympics were on they have roughly 400 miles on them with a bunch of accessories. the warden:face-icon-small-hap is letting me buy a new sled this year (with a limit of course) i was looking at the dragon or a m1000, letting you know my old sled is a mod 670 summit x. i wanna sled that will pull and go with the option of being able to make power improvements at a later time without having to turbo. being a family man a turbo sled is expensive and sometimes a real headache to get to run good and work well...thanx again...
