I blew up the engine on my D8, replacing it with 2010 parts (crank, case, cylinders, pistons). Does anyone have firsthand experience with this? Did you run into any issues? I do all my own wrenching.
The 2010 cylinder is .060 larger on the part of the cylinder that goes into the case. As long as you use the 2010 you will be fine or you can have the 2008 machined larger. Everything else is pretty much the same. Use your electronics and injectors off the 08. It should all bolt right together. ECU and everything. While it is apart, check the cylinder. Make sure it is straight, no taper or skuffs.
