2010 Dragon Risers

I am in the process of starting on my summer mods. I need a riser for my 2010 Dragon with the Pro Taper Bars. I was thinking of getting a 3 or 4" angled riser. I see RSI offers them in 30 degree and 15 degree. I am not sure which one to get since 30 degree says all polaris EXCEPT 09 and 15 degree says just 09 but I would assume 09 is the same as 10. Heres the description for the riser.

RSI Angled Handlebar Risers $79.95

30 DEGREE FITS: All Polaris (Except 2009'), Ski-Doo Rev and ZX Chassis, All Arctic Cat (Except M-Series Chassis), Yamaha Mtn Max, SX, SRX, Viper

15 DEGREE FITS: ALL Arctic Cat M-Series and Crossfire Chassis and 2009' IQ Polaris with flat style steering posts.

Also curious to see what everyone else is using for risers with the pro tapers.

i have a set on my 09 assault 15deg ones that is and to be honest with you i really dont like the how much more forward it brought me up on the sled.. ok for hillclimbing but dont like it much in the trees... jmo....

The description was not updated for 2010.

In 2009 Polaris went to the Pro Taper bars on the Dragons and Assaults.

The 2009/10 Dragons and Assaults use a plate style steering post top where the dragons in 2007 and 2008 used a "T-Top" style pivot steering post.

All 2007 - 2010 Standard RMK's use the T-top style post as well.

The 2" RSI riser will give you an additional 1/2" rise over stock...the 3" RSI riser will give you 1.5" additional rise over stock.

The RSI description should read "15 DEGREE FITS: ALL Arctic Cat M-Series and Crossfire Chassis and 2009' -2011 IQ Polaris with flat style steering posts"

You will want the 15 degree risers.

You should simply loosen the clamp and roll the bars back to where you like them... Or am I missing something here.

The 15 degree simply keeps the pivot point on the bars in relatively the same vertical position as opposed to a straight spacer block that would bring it back towards the rider more. The stock steering post is approximately 15 degrees leaned back.

If you use a straight riser, you will be moving the lower part of the handlebars back into your crotch.

The Polaris is very responsive to where the grips are in relation to the sled (fwd or back).

I have them back.... I think the turbo i installed also put alot extra up front so thats what i might be feeling also... I did the rsi riser the same time i did the turbo..

I'd be careful putting a riser on with the pro-tapers. I've bent/cracked at the weld 2 steering posts on my 09 in the last 3 months and that is with a 1.5" rise over what is stock(taking out the factory installed 1/2" top clamp and installing a regular 2 inch riser). I got 3 rides on my replaced steering shaft bent it last weekend doing a donut.

Pathetic isn't it? I have a good sized riser on my 08 as well, with the older 08 bars, and I also snapped my post just from pulling into a wheelie. Wild child post is next for me.

My wife put a six inch riser on her Assault, she's 5'4" 125# soaking wet and the stearing post plate is fairly flat so she can still stand over the front when she needs to. She never sits down. The riser helps her roll the flag ship over when required. Nice thing about the ProTapers is that they act like antivibes I thought that was ingenious.

I sold the pro tapers and used 10inch risers with their flat racing bar and it is about 3 inches higher than stock ,,,,rode all last season,, But now Im worried about the colum,,, where do you get a wild child colum

Once you upgrade to wildchilds steering post you'll have issues with the steering hoop breaking off right above where the chassis side braces bolt to it on both sides. After I snapped my post I replaced with the stock polaris one, (warranty) And the next thing to break was the steering hoop. I have a nine inch riser on mine. No doubt an area that needs improvement.

ummmm.....why? Think that puts a bit of leverage on things?

But with what kind of handlebars..

I have a straight (no rise) handlebars on my sled with a 6" rise and I'm short....total rise = 6".

A set of dragon bars on 6" riser, by comparison, would have 13" total rise...that is HUGE!

Cause I'm over six feet tall. And if I ride a dragon or IQ with stock height bars it feels like they are down by my knees. If definitely does put more leverage on things. But I know of guys who are snapping posts and they have it all stock. It's a known weak point. But no my riser doesn't help. Next time it breaks or bends I'm going with A wildchild post, and welding some kind of gusset onto the steering hoop.

I have the stock 08 dragon bars. So the same bars as the newer RMKs. NOT the pro taper bars. My set up is only like 2 inches higher than stock I believe. Maybe not even. I forget what height the stock 08 dragon riser was. But you would think with only 2 inches extra the post/hoop SHOULD be built to take it. I think so anyway. If you roll your sled I can totally under stand that this stuff would break, but my sled has never rolled. Only been rolled over to get unstuck a few times.

With the 2008 dragon bars with about 2" rise... you have about 11" total rise.

I've closely studied Timbersleds 09 D8-T steering hoop and braces when I was doing the research for my D-9 build.

Allen is a 6'3" tall, 230 lb elite level rider that is super demanding on his eqipment. He runs 10" risers on his sled. He is a phsically super strong guy that does things with his sled that would amaze most... No breaks on his hoop or brace-brackets after 2 yrs of punishing riding.

It is possible that you may have had a weak hoop?

Sounds about right. :) Yeah I'm wondering if it might have been. It was right above the welds where it broke. So could have gotten to hot possibly? Causing a weak condition? I don't know.
