2010 dragon engine 800

how come were not seeing alot of failures on 2010 buddys 2009 went down ordered 2010 jugs would not fit thicker at the base on the up date you dont get 2010 jugs just piston and head cases are machined different

the 2010 cylinder is different from 08 and 09. Updated due to failures. The 2010 case is 2mm thicker in the skirt area and also longer, the 08 and 09 case must be bored out to fit the 2010 jug, BUT the 2010 jug is the way to go when replacing the cylinder, much, much better design, so have them split the case apart and bore the top half to fit, any good machine shop (tool shop, not engine shop) should be able to do it in a bridgeport in a hour or so.

IMHO I would NEVER use a 2008 or 2009 jug period, they are a horrible design... they also go egg shape under tempature as well and bye bye ring seal.

2010 monoblock

I am in the process of putting a spare motor together for when my 08 t800 goes down. If I get the 08 case half's machined out to fit the 2010 monoblock would everything else fit like it should? Would you use the 2010 base gasket with it? Are the pistons the same? I was also looking at "the fix" for the top end. What is better? Thanks.

I'd use the 2010 jug and do the fix kit...cover all your bases.... yes as far as I know pistons ect all interchange and yes use the 2010 gasket as I think its a tad bigger to clear the 2mm skirt thickness.

BTW the best way to fix a 800 bar none is to do the carls cycle 860 kit with there custom separate cylinders...just a nice setup, strong, round, long life but $$$$$$

I found an '08 bottom end, and want to have it machined for the 2010 cylinders. Where do I get the dimentions to give to a machine shop?

Best way would be to get the 2010 jug and take your dimentions off of it, its a tad bigger (2mm) and i'm not sure of the depth..probably machine one in a few weeks tho for my friends t8 and i'll know then...:face-icon-small-coo
