2010 D8 & 09 XP Ride Today!!!

I snow checked an XP last year.. 09 XP X 800 154" track.... Sled runs great with a few awesome mods!!

I just picked up a 2010 D8 155 from my dealer on Wednesday night!!.. Dealer told me SLP full exaust system will not void warranty.. Ran my D8 today for the first time!! I love this sled too!! I have read up on mods to make this machine run in the steep & the Deep.... put SLP Y, Pipe, & Can on last night.... I am trying to sort through the Mapping, sounds like the ticket is PC5!! Autotune or no autotune??

I really love how nimble the D8 felt today!! Didnt feel any bogs, but the PCV sounds like the ticket to gain more HP!! Also maybe better boards is a must?? Some info & advice would be great!!!

One day doesnt give enough time to compare, but i have to say I am very happy with my D8 & XP!! Cant go wrong with either machine!! :D

Enjoy both your sleds! They both are very good sleds. All the companys left makeing sleds make a good product. They all have years or models that are not so good. But that is the way things are and we have to hope we get the good ones!

At higher elevation you may not need the PCV, the SLP pipe leans down top end. Get it through break-in and then take some plug readings.
I'd do the Better Boards and look at venting the shock towers and more intake air.

I would add really good clutching makes a big difference as does gearing down just a bit....

I am anxious to get my d8 broke in, to see what it can really do!! I agree completely all these new sleds are good machines, i would be happy with any 800 machine.. Im not one to argue the make of a sled or truck for that matter...

When you say more air, you are suggesting tower vent & some slp dash vents? Clutching is in the future just need to figure out what is working well and reliable too!

well, heres a pretty good clutching thread for them..and ron is the man with weights...either is a good way to go...

Thanks for the info Mike! I will look into one of these clutching setups more.. I was only seeing 7900 R's today, maybe once I break in I will see a few 100 more.. I know in order to see optimal performance these machines need to between 8200-8400..

How are these clutches to tear into and work on? I know on my XP its a pain to make adjustments.. Do I need special tools or are they simple like the older edge chassis sleds??

basically the same as older sleds..only thing you need special tools for when new is setting belt clearence on the primary..check your fuel wires(unplugged for ethanol and plugged in for premium non ethanol) wires are under the black cover over the bely guard right at the back edge...black/blue striped and pink if I remember right....

Hey Ron,
Are plug readings accurate? I have been under the impression from some old timers that say with water cooled motors plug readings can be decieving...they reccomend looking at piston wash? Not sure either way myself.

Mike/Ron,

I've scanned through all your clutch threads. Seems to be working extremely well!! Great setups for different elevations from what I see.

What HELIX, SPRINGS, & WEIGHTS would I specifically need for my elevation of 8000-11000 ft? I want to make sure I get the right exact clutching setup the first time!! Thanks, Chad

I look at everything, piston wash, plugs(and not just the tips..whats buried in the porcelain is just as important), even header(Y-pipe)pipe....it all tells a story...
