Wondering which seat to put on my 09 M8, Cats new seat or a boss. Is the boss lighter than the new OEM seat? What will the availability of the new seat be if everyone wants one? What do you guys think?

The boss seat is lighter than the new cat seat. I dont have any idea what the availiability will be of the new cat seat. You can get a boss seat for $488 shipped from firstplaceparts.com . The new cat seat is supposed to be around $300 i think, so if you dont want to spend the extra money go with the cat seat, but if money isnt a problem and you want less weight go with the boss.

I love my Boss highrise on my M8, but I am putting the new ac seat on my M7, better value it's a nice seat.
After riding out with a hurt foot this weekend and trying to stay on the seat, I realized I don't ever sit anyways.

I have an 09 with the boss seat and its seams like everything i put in the back gets wet the new cat seat is suppose to be water proof plus you don't have to fasten snaps to your tunnel to keep your seat on
I would say it depends on how much you sit down. If your always standing even on the trail than i would say boss seat, and for a lighter weight boss seat, but if you like to sit down and ride than I would say cat seat. I have a cat seat and i stand all the time but yet i still like it over the boss seat, i dont know why i just do.

That's why the new cat seat is so short, you can bring your foot around it.
i looked at the new cat seat. WHAT A FREAKING PEICE OF CRAP. 300 for a heavy junk seat? Hell the thing moves like 1 1/2 inches when you move on it. Id break it in a wheek. Rather go with a boss. 2 Snaps+ velcro+3 inches higher+ softer for the knees or hard impacts. Nice try Arctic cat. Maybe next year you might design something that didnt take 5 mins?
I thought the new Cat seat was almost as high as the Boss seat. And I bet it fits a lot better than Boss.I think people who want a good seat will get the Cat seat, but people who want a good seat and the "cool" factor will get the Boss. And theres no chance that theres any noticable weight difference between both seats. Maybe 2lbs at best, and thats sweet f**k all. If you wanna save that 2lbs just take a crap before ya ride. Maybe the people worried about the extra weight can stop wearing socks, stop sweating, and stop every mile to clean every bit of snow from the sled.

rode the 2010 hcr with new seat, its not a bad seat for ride but extremly slippery when when your pants are snow covered, could not stay on the seat .
I sat on 3 sleds at the sled show with the 2010 seat on them. The seat did not move at all, I'm not sure what you're talking about. It felt really good, was a bit taller and softer than the boss seats I have seen, and bolts to the 2 bolts on the back of the tank (so it is secure, not just velcro and snaps). It also had a lot of storage, which is nice. I could see it being slippery, like gopher-it said, but I think I might go to one of these on my M1000 over the Boss seat. Oh yeah, it's $100 cheaper too!

My 2cents from the seat I saw at the sled show... It will be a wicked stock seat, not worth upgrading to a boss and a good cheaper seat to upgrade from the older style. It's still no boss seat though, same height and comfort but the boss is a good 6-7lbs lighter. I know cause I have a boss and have compared it in my hands with the stock seat and I took the new cat seat and a older style seat off a crossfire beside it to compare.
The Cat seat appeared to be the same height as the boss and very similar. I do know the boss seat should be readily available this year. If worried contact me and we can get you one on order. Also, Boss is stepping up their mold process this year so they can make more and have them foam come out the same for each model. No more hand shapping. Should see a nice quality improvement with these seats.

Can anyone get an actual weight on the 210 seat, I was told that the tunnel fills up with snow under the back of the seat adding weight .
I just got the chance to handle one the other day. Feels super slick and felt quite a bit of play in the seat. Also the new seat was exactly 7.5 lbs heavier than my Boss Highrise. The dealer said he's noticed the seat absorbs water after a ride just like the old stock seats. Starts out weighing 10 lbs and weighs 25 after an hour on the snow. IMO, I'd rather shell out a little more for a quality product.
