2010 Assualt, is it really fixed???

I am looking at a 2010 800 Assault. Did they really get this stuff fixed? I am reading about burn ups, mid level bogs, aftermarket fuel maps and a variety of other things. What is the truth out there? There are some good deals on left overs from last year, but am I just wasting my time and money? Is the Arctic Cat M8 a smarter way to go? I have been a Polaris guy forever, but not really interested in the 2011's.

Help

hey

My buddies 2010 dragon switchback burned down for the second time after all the recalls last weekend. Seized up, running fine all day, 20 degrees, great snow, no warning or anything. He got thrown over the bars at 35 mph. lame. My brother has an 2010 assault, 2300 miles, no problems. Who knows man. I'm not brand specific really, but am happy with my 09 hcr.

650+ miles on my '10 Assault....no problems. Had a buddy with an '09 just get the news that his top end is gone, cylinders scored. Thank goodness it's still under warranty. He had about 1100 miles on his, and had the '10 updates. It's really hard to tell....but, you see a lot of ski doos blowing up the 3rd season. Another buddy of mine spun the crank on his 'doo after 2200 miles...this was after a shattered chain case 50 miles before.

3 years on that motor with who knows how many changes and now a new 2 injector motor tells me that there will always be gremilns.

Stock for stock and the deals we see on cat m8 left overs...I'D BE ON A CAT! Heads up with no add ons it's the superior sled plus they seem to be available cheaper.

That said..ride a PRO...you'll be on one if you have the cash. IT IS THAT SPECIAL.

Yes and No to that answer, The engine is holding together for the wife BUT there's a couple of things that also needed attention for those that are picky. The primary had a gap in it large enough to stack two quarters between the belt and sheeve, came with to heavy of weights 68 gram but they always get that wrong up here, the cdi was moved to a cooler place, the intake inhales snow like a vacuum. Didn't realize how bad it was till I put the 4 frogskinz kit and slp on the dash area, with the frogskinz you can actually see the snow accumulate inside since they are so transparent. Last but not least the Assault track is just simply to much for the factory drivetrain. The track subject blew up last year and Polaris did change out the drive shaft ,drivers and track and the track is adjusted to polaris specs and has been slightly tightened up even more a couple of times this season and it is still running the extrovert into the track under a load , the competition track is just to much for it but it is also a great setup for the wife. The fix is to put extroverts in it at my expense since Polaris won't actually fix the problem or to put a softer lugged track in it making it a rmk with fancy shocks. We are getting the bugs slowly worked out of it and it's turning out to be a great machine.

Your dealer should have prepped your clutch as part of his set up. It is standard practice for dealers to service RMK clutches for our lower elevation, which includes new weights and springs. Ever since your dealer bought out their only competition in Anchorage, they went down hill in the service department. Guess why Eagle River and Hatcher Pass Polaris are getting so much of their business?

Im pretty sure both those dealerships in ANC you are referring to were owned by the same people the entire time. They just consolidated or so I thought.

Believe he is talking about the old APS. They were great. HPP is my dealer of choice service is second to no one.
