Greetings Snowmobilers and Ski Bender Members
What a great show at the WSSA’s Puyallup Expo this year!!! The weather was great and from what I could see the opening day turnout was most likely bigger than last year. Many thanks to all the WSSA officers and volunteers for hosting such a wonderful event, what a great way to motivate our sport towards the upcoming season!
As you all have heard by now the Ski Benders has taken on the task again in raising donations for the second half of the biennium regarding the budget short fall that provides D.N.R. management “which will keep these parks open” for the Ahtanum, Lily Lake, Manastash and Rattlesnake Sno Parks.
We are off to a good start when Devin Dekker our Vice President submitted a letter to KLIM Technical Riding Gear at the Expo in response to how the Ski Benders support the community and respond to land use issues. KLIM awarded the Yakima Ski Benders with a grant of $1000.00 which the Ski Benders will use to kick start the 2010 Ahtanum Fund. Thanks KLIM for your support.
YAKIMA SKI-BENDERS MEETING AND AHTANUM FUNDRAISER: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2010 AT THE EL RINCON, FRUITVALE BLVD.
MEETING STARTS @ 7:00 PM, D.N.R. Donn Rasmusson will be present to answer any questions and we will start the meeting with DNR discussion!!!!
Please come and have your questions answered to the best of our ability. WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT (again)!!! Bring a snowmobiling friend! The Yakima Ski-Benders members of WSSA since 1965 are again working hard with you to make sure that plowing and grooming of these areas take place again for this winter season.
WE COULDN’T HAVE DONE THIS WITH-OUT YOU, OUR SNOWMOBILING FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS!!! A HUGE THANKS TO ALL WHO DONATED LAST YEAR!!!
What is at stake? One of the largest sno-parks in the state, plus the extensive Ahtanum Grooming system and riding areas. This is a jewel for the Yakima and Central Washington areas!
Why is this happening? The Washington State DNR still does not have the funds for oversight (i.e. personnel) for the sno-parks. DNR has also closed down numerous other uses state wide.
What happens if we don’t raise the funds needed? Once we lose it, it may be very hard to get it back. Due to the large number of users, especially in the Ahtanum area – this would be a huge loss to the Yakima area
