Excellent article on the revised 800 in the 2010 American Snomobiler Buyers

Guide, just out. Tech and development info. from Cat engineer Greg

Spaulding. Cut crank apparently lowers emissions!

They dynoed it 163.4 hp on page 16, then 15 pages later said it felt under powered.

how about the new snowest mag. where they claim the new motor will be around 150-155 then add its 10% more than the 09. by my math 10% of 147 is 14.7 add that to 147 and i get 161.7???????????????????? maybe theres a special hp math i don't know about...

Did you notice how non consistant Snowest was with there numbers though. In the specs it said 160+ hp, A bit later it says claimed 150 hp twin. And finally it says 155 hp in the picture captain. I think they have there special hp math all confused.

Yikes! No wonder I'm confused.

I remember reading the same type of thing last year where the 09 M8s were 142, 145 or 147 hp take your pick.

Now it's 150, 155, 160, 163.4 hp so take your pick. We all know the Doo guys will say 150 hp and the Cat guys will say 164 hp.

Until they are lined up in the hills this coming season, it will all be speculation.

I think in amsnow it sayed cat was claiming 155ish to them so thats where the 155 number comes from, but i have no clue on the 150. The 160 is from cats website when they say an independent third party already saw numbers above 160 hp. And the 163.4 is what it was dynoed at.

Shook my head a bit when reading too.

Less Grunt- when I rode the 10' spring demo sleds I noticed not as much bottom end as my 07'. It did feel quicker reving with that light crank, and was noticably stronger up top. I am praying the production 800 will equal the fanfare.

Aside from the rest of the issue, article is on pg. 60-61.

.

Sleds shouldn't be Dyno Queens, but for now that's all we have until the snow flys. D&D has had a Crossfire 800 for a couple weeks now, and I think they saw 158-159 HP out of it. Hey I really liked my 06 M7LE 162, so I am betting that the new 2010 I ordered will be all that and better!
