2010/2011 Golden conditions

X 2,I just checked out the Kickinghorse webcam and its starting, hopefully keeps snowing...:face-icon-small-hap

Hey dooobie, I'm on it!! I have no idea yet. Been just checking webcams and doing guessing. I had a friend go for a drive today with his truck to see what the deal is and after he was pushing snow with his bumper he came home and called me and said it might be time for a recon mission. So I'm heading up tomorrow to check it out.
I'll let cha know. Have a look at sledshot on wednesday and I'll post some pics.

Nice work, thanks for almost sacrificing your sled for all of us viewers! Cant wait to scratch the itch and get out for my first ride.

Have a look at the Advanced Weather under Conditions on their page too. Always keep an eye on "Storm Snow" and Stake. Stake is settled base at 6500 ft. Quartz Cabin elevation.
35cm in the past 24 hours. over 70cm base as of Nov. 17th 5:00pm
AH YEAH!

First tracks in Silent Pass on Sunday - Blue sky all day and 2-3 of fresh - a little wind blown up top but all the meadows and lower back side were over the hood - awesome day, no wrecks just big smiles

Hopefully some more updates by the time the weekend is over.... doesn't appear to have been any new snow for a while now tho. :(

With a new ride I'd head to Quartz. A BUNCH of new snow coming this weekend and first of next week. Mid next week would be the time if you can ditch work! haha.
I had a few clients head to silent today and they said it was amazing other then the LONG bumpy trail... So unless you want to get worked on your first ride quartz is where it's at for now.
Maybe by next week it'll be rollin!!

Quartz Creek Dec 12

On drive by Quartz Sunday there was about 8" in parking lot and pure whiteout coming through Roger's Pass on west side

Rode Quartz Monday and tuesday this week and the snow was great. First ride of of the year for a turbo Nitro and a turbo M8, and man was that fun. There was probably 5-6 ft. of powder on no base, so climbing on anything steep we often would hit dirt or rocks. Stay in the trees right now as the alpine is ready to slide. We triggered one slide, and it took one of our guys down the hill. He ended up on top with his sled mostly buried. SCARY. Said a prayer of thanksgiving after that one. Stay on the trees and live.

Was in Quartz yesterday and saw some dudes climbing all over the place. Beautiful day, sun was out but still cold! Cabin wood is done for the next few months! Under the cabin is packed full!!! Beacon basin is now good to go!! Now get practicing!! yeeehaaaaaaaa!!

Hey Aaron, heading out to Quarts tomorrow.. You think there are any fresh spots left or is she pretty pounded?

Has anyone been into Hope recently? Few of us are wondering what the conditions are like there? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

No Snow Conditions

Just spent a week in Golden, fun as usual but very skinny base.

Good snow at tree line and out of wind blown areas but landmines are plenty

More like early december at best!!!!
Man was it cold!!!

Hope- trail in had +/- 18" - 24" cover even up to bridges at first "Y" then only 3-4 feet tops, rocks a plenty prety much most creeks still open and flowing

Quartz had more snow 4 maybe 5 feet tops, down in trees above cabin seemed to be the best as the wind was not a factor
Area 51 and north were better as no tracks but the saddles had NO snow

Need a good storm and avy cycle to bring down some of the slabs we found

Conditions

Was at quartz today, no more than 10 other sleds on the hill. Alot of deep powder in places, excellent groomed ride in. Could still use another good dump of snow. Great day none the less!

I did my AST 1 class on the weekend in Golden.
Avalanche conditions are the worst I have ever seen, while on a trail ride on Saturday evening after class,we started a few little slids on the trail up.
When the snow does have a chance to bond it will be epic conditions out there.
I have never seen the snow so deep in town, almost thought I was in Revy...lol
